I am out of the Tupelo terminal. I drive for the Hancock Fabrics account out of Baldwyn. I love the miles I get. I'm not sure about the DG account, but I heard it is rough. As far as the Hancock account, we unload at stores on hand trucks, down an aluminum ramp. I don't get home every weekend, because I run out west...but I volunteered for it. I get home after 9 days and stay home for the night, then deliver to stores close by, and get back on Fri. Take a 34-hr restart, then head back west. That's the deal for now while we're busy...may change after first of the year. Been here just over 90 days.

My Gross pay average is $1000+/wk...
I'm sure everyones FM's are different, but the 3 people I deal with are the coolest people I have ever worked for. They always look out for me, and never leave me out to dry. I deliver to my stores, and on my way to them I let them know when I will be MT. Before I get MT, they usually have me a load ready to go back home. I had to wait for a load a few weeks ago, which was the first time I waited more than an hour or so before being deadheaded back. I just took my paid 34 hr restart and then got my load the next day. Had to take the restart anyways, so it just changed the day I normally take it when I go out west(still got to watch my weekend football game:p).

yeah i have been looking at their web site and the dollar general account dont seem that bad im use to driving and unloading heavy furniture from front to back of trailer so i dont think the roll tainer carts would be that bad if the miles and pay are good.

I talked to a guy last night that had done the DG account before he went to the HC account. He said he made more on that one, but they moved him over to the HC deal. Said it was much easier, but the pay was less as well. Not sure what he made on either one, but I would guess he probably made around $12-1300/wk...but that's just a guess. Depends how much he drove and what the stop pay was on that account. I am making more than the recruiter told me, not a lot more, but more. I expected to make about $800/wk, and recruiter I think said I'd average around that to $900 I believe. I assumed he was BS'ing like all other recruiters do, but he actually under sold it. I'd probably be closer to that if I worked only 4-5 days a week like some drivers do though.

I did too...I was with a friend and we worked together fine, but I wouldn't do it again unless I was being well payed for it. I live in Iuka MS, so it's a little further for me. Getting hired on usually takes 4-6 weeks. That way they have everything taken care of by the time you get to orientation and don't get pulled out of orientation 15 times to ask you questions they should have already done before you got there. This makes things much smoother, and you don't have to worry about getting to orientation and then being sent home because they didn't ask you before you got there. Like I said above, my FM's are the greatest ever.
