Averitt and what's allowed in the truck.

BigKid, each truck has an inverter installed with the apu. I had a microwave and dorm fridge from Walmart strapped to the top bunk, and a17 inch flat screen/dvd player as well. You can make it quite comfy for sure. Averitt is a great outfit. Congrats on the move.

 

Kingsport, known as Tri Cities, is on the small side compared to Knoxville but does have fuel, shower, and a shop.
And a fine BBQ place right across the street.

 

Tri cities yard wad a nice place to shut down for the night. Always quiet. The shop folks were always helpful as well.

 

I said it was small compared to Knoxville. You will think it is large after you visit yards like Dothan, Savannah, Mobile or the little hole in the wall where I'm from in Augusta Lol. But it really doesn't matter since it's just a place for us to park on the weekends.

But feel fortunate to have a home shop where you can get work done on your truck while you are off. I have to get everything done on the road. I spent a day and a half in Nashville this week getting a ton of stuff done, mainly getting APU rebuilt but it works wonderfully now. They changed shifts three times before they finished it. At least with Averitt though, I got 20 hours breakdown pay at 14.ph. We get a max of ten hours and after ten hour break it starts again if you are still there. Same thing with road breakdown, and will pay motel along with breakdown pay if you are stranded out somewhere.

And if you end up leaving truck and riding with another driver you get mileage pay for that, from and back to your truck.

Drivers from certain areas tend to work different routes from others. For instance, I don't get to Texas very often but tend to run a lot of Florida and the Carolinas. SC to KY at least a few times a month is normal for me. On the other hand a LA or TX driver probably doesn't see VA as much as I do.

You will rarely be more than 10 hours from home on Friday and with over a hundred service centers there is almost always somewhere to drop a load to get another driver home and get something that gets you home. It's not a perfect system but it works most of the time anyway.
