Well I am on the Diamond Chrystal account. I have learned it is not always the company that makes your experience at a trucking company a pleasent one or not. Most of it has to do with your dispatcher. With that being said I left for Chi town Saturday evening and got up there on Sunday night just before 10 PM for a 8 AM appointment on Monday morning. Delivered no problem it was my first experience with a lumper. I have pulled mostly tanks. From there I dead headed about 40 miles to a town called wheeling Illinois going to Mosinee WI about 240 miles away. I sat around a for 4 hours Monday waiting to get loaded. Got loaded weighed, fueled showered and ate. Then drove up there and got there shortly before Mid Night. I was going to take my 10 then unload but they had a night crew and they unloaded me then. So I took my 10 and dead headed about 40 miles to Marshfield WI for a load going back to Savannah. I got to the shipper and he said he had 2 more pallets to put on a truck and would be right with me. He did instruct me to put the truck in the door. I asked him if I could walk across the street to get a cup of coffee and some Scooby snacks for my ride down South. He was like sure go ahead. So I got my coffee and was going to catch up on some paper work but no joy he was standing there with my paper work. So I updated my Macros and started the 1215 mile drive back to Savannah. Made it down to Kentucky 41 when I ran out of hours. So I took my 10 hour break and made it back to Savannah with an hour to spare on my 10. I will be headed back out tonight for a 3 stop delivery in the Savannah area. Then pull a load back to Savannah. It shout give me close to 600 miles for the night and 3,000 for the week. That is in a 7 day work week.

    Image policy?

The best image for a driver and company is just be always be on time for appointments... not what you're wearing!

Being on time is part of the job. Looking good while you do it is just a little extra icing on the cake.

I don't call looking like a company clone 'looking good' but I guess some need that conformity and structure in their life and need to be told what to do and how to act.

My my company has an 'image policy' too.....give good customer service, pick up and deliver on time, take care of your equipment, but be yourself doing it. Nobody has to make it a company policy to shower, dress presentable and shave every day. Uniforms are available, but not mandated.

I never said the uniforms had anything to do with looking good. I simply said looking good is a bonus, so I don't see where we disagree on that.

As far as needing conformity and structure in my life, I've got all that figured out. And I certainly don't need them to tell me how to act; I was already well mannered before I came to work here.

I'm not crazy about the uniforms myself, but there are too many things in the plus column for that to be a deal breaker for me.

Okay if you don't want to conform to policy then don't come to Averitt. I have talked to someof the drivers in the truck load regional otr division and they all seem to say the same thing that the miles are not there. This is just seems to be what they are saying, it is not my experiance. Something I don't like about my account is delivering to grocery wearhouses, do I need to say more.

Well after my second full week of running I seemed to have a decent week. I left Savannah Monday night for Atlanta to deliver at 5 AM Tuesday and took my 10 hour break and picked up a load going back to Savannah. Before I picked up that load I got another assignment to pick up once I got back to Savannah going to Cleveland. So I picked up my load headed back to Savannah and headed back to Savannah, however no matter how hard I try to run straight from Atlanta to Savannah I can never go by the friendly Gus truck stop on I 16 at exit 54 in Dublin GA. Got back to Savannah and picked up the load to Cleveland. Got Cleveland Thursday and spent the day getting unloaded and loaded. I had almost killed my14 so did my 10 hour break where I sat. Then headed to my next delivery in New Jersey. I had a pre plan to go up to Elizabeth ut that load got cancelled and wound up picking up a load in Edison and do a load swap in Virgina. Then made it in to Savannah on Saturday night.
