Congrates on being done with school and getting your first load. Safe travels. I asked because I was reading yr thread to my hubby, he was in backing school this week too. He said one of the schools got closed this week and abunch of recruits got rerouted to his school, anyhow we have enjoyed yr thread. Thank you!

Your welcome. I hope that I was able to pass on some info to your husband in my ranting and raving. LOL

I also figured I'd post a pic of the "new" truck... :p

    The backing class consists of:

    - 180 degree turn
    - 90 degree turn
    - 45 degree turn
    - Straight back into trailers that are not even
    - Straight back into a slot along side a curb
    - Parallel parking along side a curb
    - A backing that requires you to back into the dock with a wall along one side (multiple ways of setting this up)
    - S-Curve driving (both forward and backing)
    - And of course most of these are done on the blind side as well

It's a course designed to help your confidence, judgement, and skills when backing. There really is nothing "new" for a somewhat seasoned driver.

Just so happens it went VERY well. I felt like a pack-mule, but for 2500+ miles this week, I'd say not bad. I did some very tight backs this weeks as well with little to no issues. I just took my time and did it safely. Starting to figure out my "routine" of things and how I do business. All the common sense things that come into play, but while I was with the trainer I couldn't do. But the big thing is getting to know when it's time to pull over for a power nap, especially while night driving. My truck doesn't have the greatest front windshield and it glares pretty bad, so it puts a lot more eye strain that I'm used to, on me.

But so far people all look at me as if I've been with the company for years... I guess it's the way I carry myself, and present myself to others. One guy thought I was a trainer, then dang near fell out when I said that I was only with the company 3 months. LOL But then when you have all the years of military as I do, you tend to have a different attitude about things.

This week wasn't perfect, but I handled it, learned from it, and will move on from it. :)

Will do... How's it going with you though? Did you get picked up some where yet? I haven't had a lot of time to read through to forums lately so I haven't kept up with the threads...
