Class will end on Thursday and you should have a load by then to pick up. (As long as your truck is ready, of course) It might pick up on Friday for a Mon delivery, so you should get home for at least a little while before you start your week.
Most places around there except one that I know of is pretty easy to get your truck into (Red State BBQ; Great food, but right on the road so it's a pain, but it can be dome with a bobtail)Flareblitz Thanks this. -
So how's class?
-
Class went well, truck was in shop ALL Tuesday so I'm going back next week to get the rest of the hours in. I was the ONLY person there haha. He was impressed by my backing so he said next week, he'll have me helping the other students since i only need 10 more hours to finish. They replaced so much stuff in my truck haha, they're still not done but they let me come home for the weekend.

Also, Nukem, Jon said I needed psychiatric treatment because I know you. Haha.
-
LMAO... figures. Al least he didn't say that I needed psych help,,, LOL
But it's a good thing that you did so well. But I'm really surprised that you were the only one. 10 hours is easy to make up. That's 2 days of class. -
Well, the 2nd week of backing school was fun. It helped cement a lot into my brain. My backing test consisted of 2 backs. An angled back into a curbside spot with the curb on the blindside, and the 180. Jon said I did a good enough job with the 180 that he wasn't going to have me do the rest of the backs, so I parked my truck(after washing it) and spent the rest of the day helping another trainee, Daniel, with his backs since Jon said I could do what I wanted for the rest of the day. Met the (in)famous Nukem at Lex. Yes, he is INDEED as insane as me. Finally left this morning rather early, around 930am, and as I am turing onto 75 to head up through Cinci to Indy, what do I see but the 'flat tire' light on on the trailer. I said some unkind things, then put in a breakdown to see where they wanted me to go. They sent me to the Pilot(there's 2, i went to the wrong one first) at exit 129 on 75 to have it repaired. After 2 hours at pilot(dude was slooooow) I finally headed back out and got home around 3:30pm. Now I am here til 7am Monday, then it's off to my first official load as a certified Averitt driver!
chopper103in Thanks this. -
Tsk, well I was scheduled to get my fingerprints done for hazmat tomorrow but I/my family have managed to lose my birth certificate which they require to prove citizenship. Sooooo now I have to tell my fleet manager than I need extra time. Health department said 3-5 business days to send it out so hopefully it won't take too long.

I have been reading all of the posts on Averitt for a few weeks now. Thanks to all of you who work there and provide detailed and accurate information.
I applied to Averitt last week...have had my phone interview and just heard back from my recruiter. He is looking for a trainer that's available around the time I finish school in May. If everything works out, hopefully I can meet some you in person at one of the SC. -
I looking to get into CDL school next month. Averitt seems like a great company to work for and they are at the top of my list. Just about to make a call to a recruiter and see about getting my pre-hire stuff done. Any suggestions, opinions, words of caution, etc...? I am so new that I don't even have my permit yet. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
