There is the SC locator. Now there a drop yard in Indianapolis itself, but I don't think that qualifies. Once you get your phone call/Skype interview and your orientation date, they will tell you all the info needed.

Like me for instance. I am going to be running out of the Norfolk, VA SC, but they have no trainers, so I have to drive down to the Eastern, NC (Greenville) SC to meet with my trainer. It's 2 1/2 hours from my house, but it beats staying down there for 6 weeks and not go home. The only thing I don't know is if they reimburse miles going to and from home while in training. (I don't think so, but I'm going to ask next week anyway.)

I have my Skype interview Monday and was wondering, if I'm excepted do you have your choice of dates for orientation? It seems like you guys are about a month or longer from the interview date, is that by choice. I'm looking to get this party started sooner than later. All ready have 4 weeks tied up waiting for the Co. to get my school approved and to this point in time for the interview.

I didn't choose for it to be so long, but she said the trainer was tied up till July 22nd so my orientation would be the week before. I'm like you shop talk sooner than later would be good for me. Laid off because of plant closure, but ready for new chapter in my life!!!!

+1 The orientation date has to coincide with that next week a trainer being ready. If that can't happen, then they will push the date out until it can match. That's what happened to me. I had to wait a month, until a trainer could be ready in my area.

@Flairblitz - When you get the interview, the recruiter you talk to will go through all the details, and then find a SC that has a trainer available. But I would just make sure to ask the question on where is training going to be held once you get to that point.

Did you start with the driver training program and need a trainer for a long period of time? Cause I think that is the driving factor for the few of us. Finding trainers in our respective areas...

As for background, yea that can take some time, but luckily for me, since I've been 'vetted by every 3 letter organization known to the military; Have a CC permit; Have my TWIC card; AND still hold an active clearance, they got back with my in 3 days. But it took them an extra week just to get in touch with an old employer.

Thanks Nuke, it doesn't bother me if I don't get home during training. When I was with Maverick, my trainer was in Richmond and I'm in Indy so I only got home once. Rest of the time Maverick put me in a hotel in Richmond.

At least they were nice enough about a hotel... I HAVE read stories (I can't confirm them, mind you) that when a trainer was at home terminal, and the new driver couldn't go home, Averitt put them in an unused truck sleeper at the SC for the weekends, instead of a hotel. But again... that's hearsay and who knows how long ago as well.
