I applied to Averitt a few days ago. I had some questions for the drivers that work here that I didn't see anywhere. How long does it usually take to hear from Averitt after you apply? Do they bus or fly you down to Cookeville? Do they have you stay in a decent place(bad experience with PAMs hotels of choice*shudder*) How long does it take to meet your trainer? Do they send someone to pick you up from the airport/greyhound office? Is it a good company all around? Also I know you get uniforms during orientation, do oyu have to wear them when you're done for the day as in, back at the hotel? I'm sure I'll think of more but this is all I can think of for now. Thanks!
I applied to Averitt

I know my answers are not perfect, but I hope they helped a little, and I am sure that someone with more knowledge on this subject will chime in at any given moment. Good Luck.DocWatson and Flareblitz Thank this. -
- they will either bus or fly you to TN, with the option to drive and will reimburse you .26 a mile to do so. (Which is what I'm doing for the freedom of driving around while there)
- It took 10 days for them to contact me for a Skype interview. (Which you do not have to be clean shaven for BTW...)
- After the Skype interview, I had an offer in 4 hours.
- I was told during my interview that when I got to TN I would stay at a local hotel and 2 to a room. (I'll LYK come the 8th of June, how true that is)
- Off duty is off duty. You do not have to wear the uniform. (Would you wear it at home?)
Now with all that said... I am starting under the student driving program, so I don't have a "truckers" history to verify, so maybe it was easier for them to go through the process. But overall, after a month or so of research and talking with many companies, Averitt is one of the better ones to go with if you have little to no experience like me.
There are more questions that you will have answered once you get the interview/offer.Flareblitz and ShopTalk Thank this. -
I hope I get the call. Quitting my security company today because they told me I didn't give them my timecard so they're only giving me 1 weeks pay for working 2 weeks. Then my paycheck today didn't come in at all. So I told them if I don't have my pay IN MY HAND by 1am when I get off then I will quit and will file a lawsuit. This is 4 bounced paychecks 2 paychecks shorted 40 hours or more and 1 missed payday. Really make that 2 missed paydays now. I should've left earlier. Hopefully Averitt is better than this.

I have worked for averitt for about 1 1/2 years now and am very happy with them. They will fly or bus you to cookeville or give you the option to drive, if you fly or take a bus they will have a shuttle to take you to the motel. I can't remember the name of the motel but it was very nice, with a indoor pool and also had a good breakfast in the morning. They do run your background before you go to cookeville, so as long as you pass the physical and drug test on the first day you will have a job with them. you will get your uniforms on day 1 also and have to wear them when in class but at the end of the day you can wear whatever you normally would. I hired on as an experienced driver so i did not have to go out with a trainer, so i won't be much help with those questions. But let me know if you have any others and i will try to answer them the best i can.

Awesome, thanks Ryan. Do they have any rules about undershirts? I hate wearing just a uniform/workshirt alone.

As a random question, how long should I wait for them to call me before I try to contact them?
-
I am hoping to get on with them also, I graduate school on Saturday the 31st. I have heard only good things. I am prior military so I get the apprentice ship program and they have a local out of Vance,AL. which is right down the road from me.
