    Hey, thanks for the reply.
Question 3 wasn't clear. Sorry about that.

I've heard that Averitt had different companies and you had to work your way up through their ranks., i.e. Averitt TL, Averitt LTL, and Averitt Express.

I was told you had to be willing to work as a team driver running full truckloads for at least 6 months, then you might get a chance to start bumping multiple docks each day for no pay for stops(just your mileage), then you would be hired on at Averitt Express(stop pay, etc).

Is any of this true? Or have I been talking to the wrong people?

As for question 2, I heard Averitt had a flatbed division. I re-read your post and realized you're happy you're running dry van. Sorry about that, too.

Either way, thanks for the reply.

As for the different divisions; Yes there are. Truckload, Dedicated, Flatbed, Flex, LTL. If a position is open for one that you want, you can apply for it. You don't have to start off in any one area first. But Averitt does promote from within, so at least in Truckload where I am, They want at least a year experience, but that's not set in stone either. If a position is open for a local run that I want, I can apply for it as well and as long as the leadership agrees with it, I can move earlier. It all depends on the needs of the company at the time.

But to be honest, like me just starting out, we have to be flexible and willing to "put up" with something for a while, until we can get what we want. I'm not going to stay in truckload forever, but for now, I'm willing to be a pack-mule and go where they want to me to, if it'll get me a local run later on with daily home time.

Again, check out the website. I am not a recruiter and I don't have all the answers... Just trying to give what I know. :)

    I appreciate it.
Do they offer any kind of referral program?
I'll put your name or driver ID in the application.

Ive been with Averitt now also for 6 months and want to say This posting is pretty much spot on. Very accurate info and much my same experience. Some things he did not mention are that after 90 days myself and another driver from my orientation class received a $500 bonus (Tuition re-imbursment) and I believe will receive the second $500 at 6 months. Also, all support folks there have been great from benefits, payroll and the mechanics shop. In road training though I had a trainer that did utilize team schedule a bit. he never slept while I drove but our logs were staggered so he could drive another 4 hours or so after I maxed out. Which meant decreased sleep time some nights down to 5 or 6 hours. Also, the 4 day "backing/finishing" school was extremely beneficial and a real confidence builder especially for a new driver like me. And most importantly, the service centers everywhere make a huge difference. I always plan my rests at one so to avoid the piss soaked noisy crowded truck stops, but if you are sent up to NJ, PA or Chicago, which you will occasionally, you wont have one for a day or 2, Good post.

Hey Warrior, I just got a local driving job here in Austin, TX starting at $19.25 and hour with the potential of making $23.00 an hour. Now keep in mind this might change from location to location and yes local is the same as LTL. Hope this helps.
