Forbidden Exclamation Averitt Express Not What it seems

I drove for Averitt Express for over a year and a half. Over all, I enjoyed my time with them. However, I must warn you that there are somethings that are not what they seem. I was told that I would drive Monday thru Friday and would be home on weekends. After 1 1/2 years, I was only home on friday twice. Also, I was told that I would avg. 2,400 to 2,600 miles per week. That was not the case either. after 1 1/2 years, my avg miles were right at 2,000 miles. Also, if there is any (I mean ANY) disagrements between you and your fleet manager, the fleet manager's word is taken over yours. EVERY TIME NO MATTER WHAT!.\\

It Just amazes me how you can drive 6 out of 7 days and only get 2000 miles. Must be spending a lot of time at the truck stops playing video games

I saw where you retired in 1992. That is before the new law of the 14 hour window. I have sat at a dock with a time stamped entry of 2:15 pm and an exit time of 8:45 pm. I started the day at 6:30 am. I had no choice but to go to the truckstop 1 mile away. Total miles for the day 70 miles.

Well just a little FYI, I have returned to driving, and have been driving under the new HOS. What I set out to do I accomplished. I just wanted to get you to explain WHY you were only getting 2000 miles a week. Thank you

If you're sitting at a dock waiting to be loaded or unloaded for four to six hours, you can't do much else that day. And if you aren't given a load assignment to go anywhere, what do you do? Lots of people get lousy miles but they're spread out over the entire week. You can only go where you're told to go and no further.

Averitt Express

I liked Averitt Express but I was making no miles I averaged about 1500 under Webb Davis. The biggest problem for me is I could not take the truck home at all which living in Michigan and working out of Fort Wayne really created problems. I would tread carefully here.

Exclamation No video games. I repeat. No video games.

I have recently left Averitt. I averaged only about 1500 per week, but that is not why I left. Averitt pays HHD miles, and after 3 months when benefits kick in, they short drivers even more. Often up to 25% of actual miles, without any off-route miles. In spite of what their recruiters say, it is very difficult to get detention, unloading, or lay-over pay out of Averitt.
