Barr-Nunn New to the company

You need one year of experience and we hire outta ct we have a bunch of customers there and we need northeast drivers

 

Bikerdon...still with barr nunn? I'm ready for an update!

 

The midnight runs its one of the few things I don't like about BN. They say frieghts good so why not get us more daytime freight? You drive all night and guzzle down pop and energy drinks to stay awake then when u get to take your break your tired but your so buzzed you can only sleep 2 or 3 hrs. Then they have u on another midnight run. sometimes I have to result to praying that I don't fall asleep and kill myself. I would rather wait another 6-8 hrs and pu a ld in the am and get a goodnight sleep it really would'nt make any difference mile wise.

I've read through a lot of this thread and have to say that I'm relieved that I didn't move forward with BN. I had an offer and an orientation date. I called Cory back a day later and told him that I had some things come up (which I really did) and wanted to delay a bit. Also, something just didnt' feel right so the extra time would let me get a better feeling for it.

In addition to this thread I've been reading another board's thread on BN and it's basically the same here. So, for me, I think I made the right choice by not moving forward. Now, they may be perfect for someone else, but there's just too much talk here on issues that are hot buttons to me.

Ok, I ain't posted since july of 2010 about BN. figured i would speak from experience, I will keep this as unbiased as possible. I worked for 8 weeks as company driver before i sold my old truck and bought a new one, so that view first...if you are the type that needs someone to hold your hand and make all decisions for you (you know who you are) then this is the company for you. you will not have a say so in any decisions whatsoever, do what your told seems to be the motto. make even the smallest mistake and safety will come down on you like an anvil on wily coyote. beep beep...like i've said before decent equipment, good customer base and lanes, problem is planning, they think every run and i mean EVERY run has to have a 10 hr. break after it, i've seen 1st graders that can do math better then these unknown jokers. you will never talk to planners or meet them. you are assigned a Team Leader as a middleman who you get to yell at and then he or she will "pass" the word on. there is no first in first out, no choices, no communication, you take what they give you, as a company driver i tolerated this thinking it would change after i bought my next truck. the only thing that changed is safety leaves me alone about the little things. we seem to have lost a few lanes but we picked up others, the freight is there, but once again planning is the sore spot. Quallcom is redundant, you put the same info in 3 times per load, trust me, sounds simple but after 8 months i'm ready to rip it out and leave it on the side of the road. we don't go past Omaha,Ne. and for the past 3 months i can't get south of HWY.70 my T.L. quit around Oct. last year and since then i've had 2 T.L.s I had mt first T.L. nicely trained, he understood that I don't play in the truckstops, I go from point A to point B direct and I don't need supervision, just give me the run, give me the miles and i'll do my job. this company has the potential to be great, but the office seems to have missed the point, what makes a TRUCKING company a TRUCKING company is the TRUCKS and the DRIVERS who DRIVE them. without US your just a COMPANY. start listening to your drivers. needless to say I gave my two week notice last Friday, i keep waiting for change and it ain't happening, every driver i've talked to in the last few months is unhappy and quitting. if you are semi-retired and have no bills, don't wanna run hard and enjoy sitting alot then Barr-Nunn would be perfect for you. don't get me wrong, I know people that want exactly that, i'm not being sarcastic, if you have everything paid for and your not hungry, then come on over. i've heard horror stories on what happens when people quit BN, i'm doing everything according to their rules,2 week notice e.t.c., will keep you posted on their behavoir with my deposits and last check DAC Report e.t.c.

 

Well everything went great, not a hitch in the separation at all. everyone at Barr-Nunn was very friendly, I do think it's funny that my last two weeks was completely planned out a day or two in advance, great runs and I can't figure out why they could'nt have done this all along? I assume they were hoping I would change my mind. I was in and out of the shop in about 45 min. for qualcom removal, just finished checking my statement and all pay is there including deposit's returned. all in all I would have to say this has been the smoothest leaving a company has ever been. If they could consistantly do what they have for the last two weeks and let me train my wife so we could move forward with our rolling retirement plan I would come back here easily. On that note I will end by saying, Barr-Nunn has a few issues as stated before, but they've shown me that they can overcome these issues, doing it on a regular basis would make them a great company and their turnover rate would all but disappear.( hopefully someone in charge spies on this site and actually reads whats being said) keep fighting the good fight and I hope this all helps. bye
