Important Truckers Forum Notice!

Biodiesel & Alternative Fuels Forum This is a forum to discuss bio-diesel and other kinds of alternative fuels. We think bio-diesel is the next revolution as Hydrogen costs too much to make and putting food (Ethanol) in your tank is not feasible and will cause food prices to skyrocket. What say you on bio-diesel? Should we start this bio-diesel revolution and kick it into high gear?

I dunno. Gas tanks have more explosive energy potential in a wreck.

Very true... I'm just paranoid and don't readily trust "new fangled contraptions"! LOL!

yeah - and that is what they said about the gasoline engine back in the 1880's....

too dangerous - too innefficient - too much of a hassle...

(some of those people put all of their eggs into the steam and diesel baskets back then!)

look at it as an option. (an option that would work for me).

How is going to work in the winter?, Brake lines freeze, Won't the whole drive train be at risk with this?
Lat, I do agree it is an option and if it works GREAT, And if it catches on and they sell like wildfire I hope they are small, light and I can hang on to car hauling long enough to be hauling them.

well from what I read in popular mechanics - the deal has an onboard dryer (like what the desicant pod on a big truck does) - and the drive turbine is geared well enough to provide good (not great) accel.

dunno guys with my short commute the f-150 still does fine... cost 100 bucks to fill up when empty... but it only needs filling once every 5 or 6 weeks.

I was reading about the Toyota Prius. Toyota is now claiming that the 2009 model will be capable of 100 mpg. Apparently there has been a breakthrough in battery technology. Heck, the little Honda Insight was able to get 63-70mpg but Honda quit production of it a couple years ago because they didnt sell enough of them.

we have 2 neighbors who have insights - and they figured closer to 53 mpg

the widow next door just bought a prius (new) - will be interesting to see what it does...

nope - but there will have to be an add on cost to cover the "road tax" that is incorporated into all of our fuels...

probably if it were to ever be marketed it would be in the 15K range..
(but this is pure guesswork)
