| Eons ago my Grandfather was a trolley operator. He had previously been a teamster, nope not the Union kind, the stare at horses rump kind! The run he was on, wasn't referred to as trolleys, but InterUrban instead. They ran longer distances, and I have read that in the late 1800's early 1900's you could get from Philadelphia to Chicago by riding InterUrbans, and never have to walk more than 3 miles at a time between different lines. The conspiracy type folks think that big oil, automobiles, and the rubber companies put the kabosh to this style of transportation. |
