Biodiesel & Alternative Fuels Forum This is a forum to discuss bio-diesel and other kinds of alternative fuels. We think bio-diesel is the next revolution as Hydrogen costs too much to make and putting food (Ethanol) in your tank is not feasible and will cause food prices to skyrocket. What say you on bio-diesel? Should we start this bio-diesel revolution and kick it into high gear?

Thune plan pushes for jet fuel of future

Quote:
bombers taking off from Ellsworth Air Force Base will be propelled by wood waste and crop-based fuel sooner than you might think possible.
Biofuel for jets and bombers isn’t as simple as running cars and trucks on ethanol or biodiesel, but the U.S. Air Force is solidly behind the goal of using 50 percent alternative fuels by as soon as 2011. Discussion of making such a move started during the oil crisis of the 1970s and got serious again during the price spikes of 2006.
Each time the price of oil goes up $10 per barrel, it costs the Air Force an additional $600 million for fuel, according to an Air Force report published at aviation.com. Unfortunately for Thune, synthetic fuel made from natural gas and coal currently has favor, as that works best under the challenging environment of flying in a confined space in frigid temperatures.
