The blog of blah. Ought to be called "Blahg." I discuss my experiences from CDL school on into driving, random crap annnnd..... other random crap. Or nothing. Either way.
Last Thursday I suffered my first breakdown. I lost my rear drive shaft near Temple, TX. Monday they rented me a car and sent me to Carlisle, PA to recover another truck. They said the driver was flown to a Dallas hospital. The truck is three months old, Cascadia. I don't like it. My DBL told me to expect to have a newer truck when I get back. Yay, now I can go slow like a real Schneider driver. They loaded me with a relay to NC. So today I finally got to meet up with a guy I met ...
A couple days ago I made delivery in Olive Branch, MS (just south of Memphis.) They had me another pick up set for a 1300 appointment. My drop location didn't have MTs. So I called in to let them know I needed an MT and that I didn't have the hours to make the 1300 appointment. They said they would pull my load and find me something else. So I told them in that case I needed to head over to the W. Memphis OC to get a coolant leak fixed. And then it went downhill from there. I ...
Times is tough all around. The wife has been unemployed for a few short months and it's now showing. Then she gets notice that her unemployment has already expired and she can reapply in July. (Convenient to show unemployment rolls down right before an election.) To make matters worse I was taken off salary and that's showing. So, I told my DBL to forget home this weekend and keep me moving. It still worked out that I got to spend a night at home, then I was sent to Minnesota. Last ...
Recently I picked up a hi-valu load. Over a million dollars worth of Nintendo Wii's. Man to have a pallet of those to sell.... A driver friend of mine who is a retired deputy said he worked a case once involving a full load theft of Playstations. He said the driver was FOS, had to be in on it. Another case he worked a full load theft of .... stuff. The driver said he parked it at the Petro and went home. When he came back it was gone. So my man does his thing and gets his Spidy Sense ...
As of October 21 I have officially been with Schneider one year. My, how time flies and what a ride it has been so far. Any of you who have kept up with my past blogs know where I've come from to get to this point. So, the question I know that's on errbody's mind is "How did Schneider commemorate our first anniversary in our loving relationship?" With cake and Ice cream, balloons and streamers, of course! Naw just kidding. They called me in for recertification ...
Aint written in a while because things have been pretty mundane. But have had a few interesting things as of late. A little over a week ago while I was parked at the OC a fellow Schneider driver backed into me. I had just closed my curtains to change clothes, so I didn't even see it coming. He cracked my hood and knocked my headlight out of adjustment. A few days later another driver backed into me at the F-J. Again, my curtain was closed. I was facing west and was keeping the ...
Recently I reported on my Papaw breaking his neck. A couple days later they had a feeding tube in him. A nurse crushed his pills and administered the meds through the tube. He regurgitated the meds, inhaled them then aspirated and went into A-fib. We buried the old soldier yesterday. They asked me to deliver the eulogy. Man, I was nervous, but pulled it off. An interesting tidbit on Papaw: in Italy during World War 2 he fell from a water truck. The truck ran over his leg. He refused ...
