Aint written in a while because things have been pretty mundane. But have had a few interesting things as of late. A little over a week ago while I was parked at the OC a fellow Schneider driver backed into me. I had just closed my curtains to change clothes, so I didn't even see it coming. He cracked my hood and knocked my headlight out of adjustment. A few days later another driver backed into me at the F-J. Again, my curtain was closed. I was facing west and was keeping the ...
Recently I reported on my Papaw breaking his neck. A couple days later they had a feeding tube in him. A nurse crushed his pills and administered the meds through the tube. He regurgitated the meds, inhaled them then aspirated and went into A-fib. We buried the old soldier yesterday. They asked me to deliver the eulogy. Man, I was nervous, but pulled it off. An interesting tidbit on Papaw: in Italy during World War 2 he fell from a water truck. The truck ran over his leg. He refused ...
Saturday night/Sunday morning they had my load set up with a return trip out of the routine. I was returning with a load of pallets to Dallas, relay drop at the OC. Having to go to the OC is a nightmare in and of itself. But, you'll have that on them bigger jobs. It turned out to be a blessed twist of fate. Saturday night I got a call that my grandfather had fallen and broke his neck. They flew him to a Dallas area hospital. I made my run and it appears my return trip would just barely ...
Man it's been a while since I've been on the Report. I quit posting mainly because I felt I had nothing new to say. Then some other things began to really occupy my mind. My DBL was on vacation last week, so everything is pretty jacked up. My entire routine gone to #&$@:-&:!$ Where I was hitting the house every other night, now I've only made the weekend. That's a tough turn. Repeatedly I would call in and ask what's going on, "what we NORMALLY do is this...... Can we ...
This morning (July 29, 2012) I got stopped for a roadside inspection. It was educational for both of us. I learned that when they are looking for a quickie inspection they target mega carriers. Our trucks are usually well cared for and compliant so they aren't worried about violations. We run e-logs so he's not worried about false logs. We're just easy targets for a quick inspection on the books. Nice. At least I get good marks on my CSA. So I tell him that while I gave his ...
Recently I was tormented by the new Amazing Spiderman - 3D by director Marc Webb. Here is my review. (warning: contains spoilers/cynicism) First, the theater: Flix Brewhouse in Round Rock, Texas. A pretty neat place. Tip one: Before the movie starts they will take your food order. If you would like to eat your meal during the movie then wait until the movie starts. Otherwise; they will bring it on out and you will have most of it gone ...
Been making pretty good work this week. Zero time on the phone with support shift. Prompt loads. It's been ok. Yesterday, at nearly 1400, I eased into the J at Baytown again for my 10. As I parked I got to talking to a friend on the phone. Soon after come the knock on the door. I tell my friend "here we go" (he's a trucker too.) This skanky lookin gal asking if she can use my CB. "Sure you can!" heheh She starts in complaining about all the **slang ...
