I finally got an assignment this afternoon. Heading to Mt. Vernon this evening for p/u delivering to Round Rock. Interestingly enough, I got a call from my recruiter at McElroy Truck Lines. They wanted to know if I'd be interested in coming back to work for them. Wow. I never had an employer call me like that. She said if I came back now I would still get paid .40 cpm and all was the same except the insurance was updated; 6 weeks salaried training blah, ...
I've gotta get it in my head on better time management and planning. So far it's still been in my head that when I sign out for the day I got ten hours then I need to roll again. This morning I got up and took off by 5:30. My orders said p/u between 12 and 1400. Around 8:00 I showed up for my p/u. They told me to come back about 9:30 and they'd have it finished. I've completed my first week solo and have reported back in after my weekend off. I dropped my truck at the OC and took my car home. I turned in a worked order to get some work done over the weekend. This morning, while I was awaiting orders, I asked the shop if they happen to have any shelving laying around. Since I have a rookie truck, typically the cabinet shelves are pilfered. So a shop hand took me around to the trucks for sale and we salvaged some. I got settled back ...
