I was taugh to drive by My Dad back in the end of the 70's, My First Driving Job was for Little Audrey's Santa Fe Springs , CA Produce to the old Hunts Point Market. And the stories youve probably heard are more than likely true, Bad Place in General. Then Back to Shakey with hand stacked beef, Farmer John.

Since then I have pulled thermos bottles, skate boards, bottom dumps, shoe boxes, bedbuggin for a while, and then finally hit air cans or dry bulk.

Dry bulk seems to be a good balance of income verses home time. To me hometime rates really high in my priorities.

Off every weekend. Load time averages less than 15 minutes total, unloading takes about 20 minutes per trailer. I have spent longer times waiting for a door, than what it takes me to unload. Generally you pull in and unload, and most customers are glad to see you early. Unlike grocery warehouses.

But, to each there own as they say. 3 million plus miles, no accidents, and more tickets than I can count, but thats trucking. Never been put out of service, lucky maybe.

Best OTR company Ive worked for probably IWX, Kingman AZ - Wrost May Truck, Salem OR. But the ones inthe middle all about the same.

Best advice, make sure you know where your going, before you move the truck. Plan your trip out in advance it will save you alot of frustration. Plan to arrive early so than when things go wrong and they will, you have time to deal with them.
