When you try this, you will have had to have made your payments on time to your credit card companies. You need to call you credit card companies and ask them if they currently are offering any special or promotional rates on your card. They will ask you to hold while they check for you. When they get back on the phone you will hear, "I am sorry, you are not qualified for any of our promotional rates at this time," or "Yes, we can lower your rate by x%." If you have good credit and no late payments on that card and they tell you that you are not eligible...find a good card and pay that off. If they respond to you that they can help you...you still are not done. They will normally not give you the best rate, so you will need to say,"I need you to do better than that or I will have to close my card." They will most likely put you on hold again and possibly come back with a better rate!
