Well second day of orientation is done pretty easy day I would say. Had a alley dock test with the flatbed spread axle. First time ever with a spread axle, had to only pull up maybe two feet once and got it in the dock, not bad for never driving spread axle or maybe just beginners luck. Met with more departments and started going over load placements of say coils and how to calculate weight for the axles. Tomorrow get some more presentations and sounds like we are going to start playing with the coil outside learning how to secure, can't wait, and there is a slim possibility they are talking about sending us home for the holiday weekend.

Well its not that bad, would suggest this outfit to anyone new student wise like myself. As expected the first day is a lot of paperwork, drug testing, and DOT physical at there doctor. You also take a quick road test to so they can gain some knowledge where your at driving ability, and do a pre trip inspection on a tractor and tailor to make sure you know that. Maintenance came in and talked got a bunch of home work, went over benefits (which are good, good life insurance paid by the company nothing out of your pocket, and they match $1 for $1 up to 5% for 401k) and securement briefly, but more of that to come throughout the week. I will say this so far they are strict on safety and I like that, if its not safe don't do it, if you have a question just ask. I will keep my blog updated throughout the week and try my best once I hit the road.

Well I have arrived at the hotel, which isn't bad nice little place. Had a long ride on the greyhound bus with what I could have driven in probably 3hours less, but such is life. Got a lot to get use to missing my girl and my two new puppies but if I want to give them the life they deserve and my kids the good life I got to suck it up and do what I got to do. Even with that said I'm excited to see whats in store for me can't wait to get this going.

Well yesterday I received all the info I needed to get to Pittsburgh for orientation. Just helps to make me feel more secure that I have a confirmation number for a bus ticket. PGT seems really good, they pay for the hotel, bus ticket and breakfast lunch and dinner. So no out of pocket cost during the first week really needed. They recommended bringing a minimum of $100 for the second week for food while I'm on the trainer truck as I won't be paid to the end of week two as they hold the first check, but such is life. So looking forward to starting my new career, I head out Sunday 4/1 at 11:00am.

Well I guess I will try this blog out and later on post to a thread for everyone to see. I got the call today from PGT Trucking and was told I was getting a bus ticket to come to Pittsburgh for orientation on 4/2/12. Can't wait to get started and get into training to start a long needed career. Finally going to have a job I can be proud of and have my kids look up to me to. Can't wait now just got a week of boredom.
