Insurance Question I was hoping y'all could help me with

Posted 10.06.2008 at 04.06 PM by Researcher68
Hi,

I am looking up for a customer how much insuring an owner-operator truck would cost per month. Since I am not the owner-operator, and since it is rather hard to look up quotes without the name and address of the driver, I was hoping that one of you guys could respond to me regarding the following questions.
- I know how trucks can get a different quote regarding size, type, driver history, whether it is lease-on or not, etc., but how much, on average, would insurance cost...

Posted 10.06.2008 at 11.59 AM by bor
Ok I don't know if BarnSwaggled is a word... LOL
But I have to keep this Rated "G"
Things have been tough to say the least.
I bought the truck and trailer early this year, and "went for it!"
My timing was poor tho. (Fuel, economy, etc..)
There is money to be made, and I am not out of the running yet, but I have fallen behind on EVERYTHING. And I don't need to tell any of you how hard a road it is to get back above water.

But what the...

Why class "A" CDL

Posted 10.06.2008 at 10.27 AM by Paso Bill
I'm retired and considering truck driving. When I look into class "A" schooling, very hard driving and risky income.
When I research class "B" test only, drive a bus, bobtail most driving is local. I look at the earning for "A" & "B" and I ask myself why get beat up for just a little more money to drive class "A" long haul. Come on let's hear some advice and please no B.S. stories about making $100,000.00 plus long haul, unless it's true....

Second Job

Posted 10.05.2008 at 05.11 PM by TrooperRat
So, I got into this new house here early this year. How I got into this place, I'll never know with all the financial/mortgage/housing catastrophe going on out there. But I did.

The problem is this place is totally undeveloped. The lot was cleared entirely of mature fiolage in order to put the house in. So I'm starting from ground zero. PLus there are things I want to do to the inside of the house to get things the way I want it.

Not to mention I would like to...

OTR

Posted 10.04.2008 at 03.21 PM by TrooperRat
I will have to admit something, and if nowhere else, at least on this blog (I have several). I see the day, after my kids are grown up and gone, that I will do OTR again. Not because I have to out of necessity, not because I can't find a local job, but because I want to.

As much as I like (and dislike - love/hate relationship) local driving (nothing like being home every day when you are bringing up a family) - I always loved OTR when I was engaged in it.

The aspect...

Week 5 over

Posted 10.04.2008 at 06.20 AM by ParkRanger
It's been a tough week, mentally. While most of my classmates are getting qualified, I'm having trouble getting it done. I think I'm a little intimidated by the big trucks when I get into traffic. But my shifting skills seem to be a lot better when I'm paying attention. I messed up and stalled the truck when I forgot to put the range selector down. Dumb mistake! My backing skills are improving and I just need to relax a little on the road tests and get them behind me. To pass along a little advice...
