Need input from the guys that know diesel pickups.

Posted 1 Day Ago at 02.44 PM by feet wet
I'm not a trucker, but am looking into a diesel pickup to haul a 3500 lb. slide-in, camper and a 1000 lb. boat and trailer. Based on the inputs that I have received so far, I'm looking at a used Ford F-450, 1998-2003, 7.3 liter with a 6-speed manual, a 3.73/1 rear end, 2-wheel drive with lockers. Does anyone have recommendations for me to consider? Do any of you have any leads on a truck that includes these specs?

We Shut Down the U.S / Canadain Boarder.

Posted 1 Day Ago at 09.27 AM by countrycruisers
Last week my wife and I were asked if we would be interested in helping out a fellow driver stuck in Canada. She had slipped on the ice and broken her knee. The plan would be for us to split up and one of us drive this woman's truck, this woman and a load, back to Indianapolis from Kitchener, ON. It's just under 500mls and would put us where we needed to be for Thanksgiving anyway.

We crossed at Detroit. My wife had never driven while crossing and wanted the lead because she didn't...

Wait until March??

Posted 2 Days Ago at 07.32 AM by chaser1
I am puzzeled, sorry. I have been pre-hired by a few companies, which is good. However, I have had a couple of recruiter's ask if I might be interested in starting with training in March. One recruiter sez it is because of the holiday's, another sez it is due to the sluggish economy, and yet the school adviser continues to say that companies are begging him for student's.
Are the companies getting a bonus for the student's who are hired or what?? Also, I had one company recruiter tell me that...

18 wheel vs. bob tail

Posted 2 Days Ago at 08.18 PM by Paso Bill
I'm confused i look at the earnings of each triving job and for a little more money the 18 wheelers beat there self up Why?
Drive a bob tail for a local company, less money, less betting yourslef upand home at night. One factor is what i have experanced for 40 yeras as a 4 wheeler and 50 thousand milesa year, there is for the 18 wheeler the excitment of the next sunrise and what is over the next hill. My basic question is still why 18 wheels vs. bob tail . "Happy Holodays" to all...
