I forgot to mention in my post yesterday that I called CRST. If anyone has been keeping up, CRST offers a refresher course and they were the first company I called while looking for a job. Also, they haven't been picking-up their phone for a week, but yesterday I got an answer. I was told that my application was being handled and they transferred me to the man who was dealing with it. Unfortunately, it was an answering machine and I had to leave my number. I got no call until I called again this...

No positive responses

Well I didn't get any positive responses to my question as to if anyone enjoyed trucking. I guess none of those drivers featured on the company's recruting sights contribute to this site ?

Well, I called several companies today to see if they could give me a job:

Roehl-I called them and they said that they couldn't hire me because my time being away from driving was longer than my time driving. They won't take you as a student unless you are fresh from school.

Taylor Express-A local carrier near where I live. They wouldn't answer the phones. It has been that way since I tried calling last week.

PTL-Basically they told me the same thing as...

What I have been doing

Posted 11.23.2008 at 04.16 PM by Teaforone
As I stated in my last blog post, I have been trying to get back into trucking after a 2 and a half year hiatus. So, far the companies that I have called have said that I need to have experience. When I inquired if they could just put me with a trainer again I got the answer that I have been out of trucking too long for that. I guess my option at this point is to try and get a refresher course that my old truck driving school offers or find a trucking company that offers one. The situation is...

I guess I shall start a blog about me having to begin again in trucking. I guess it will be interesting to post just how I am going about getting back into the truck driving world. Some background now:

I went to truck driving school in Smithfield, NC in May of 2005. I was 20 and had always enjoyed driving. My uncle had drove big trucks for many years and my father encouraged me to do the same. My mother wasn't too excited about it, but I guess she was happy that I didn't join the Army...

confused

Hello
I Have a question on lumper taxes. The company that I work for alows me to lump my own loads at the rate that the lumper service wants. my boss then adds it to my check and I pay the taxes on the money. He pays for the service then is reinbursed by the customer my problem is that I make on the average of $400.00 a week lumping loads, so it puts me in a higher tax bracket for my regular earnings. Is this right???
