We Shut Down the U.S / Canadain Boarder.

Posted 11.30.2008 at 09.27 AM by countrycruisers
Last week my wife and I were asked if we would be interested in helping out a fellow driver stuck in Canada. She had slipped on the ice and broken her knee. The plan would be for us to split up and one of us drive this woman's truck, this woman and a load, back to Indianapolis from Kitchener, ON. It's just under 500mls and would put us where we needed to be for Thanksgiving anyway.

We crossed at Detroit. My wife had never driven while crossing and wanted the lead because she didn't...

Taking things for granted

Posted 12.02.2008 at 01.57 PM by Cybergal
With the end of this year approaching and the gloomy out look of the new year coming into play, has reminded me all to well, that taking things for granted has a way of hitting you up along side the head every now and then.

I think for me, I took for granted that my job would always be there and my bills would always be paid.

That food would be easy to purchase and electric and gas would warm and light my home and so on.

Stepping back and Thanking GOD every...

what a year...

I have been hashing over in my mind whether or not it is as bad as people say out there...

I performed a little experiment the past 2 weeks...

I sent my resume into one of those mill websites that then for-wards it off to a gazillion companies.

1. curious

2. if things get much worse - I may need a temporary job (lay offs at YRC are going deep this year)...

Seeking America via Semi Truck a student trucker experience

Posted 12.29.2008 at 12.49 AM by Orangesky
Sunday 2 November 2008

Well here I am in So. Cal. and the saga begins. I plan to keep a daily journal when I pass my test and am finally out on the road. I mentioned its kind of scary taking on this new challenge but that’s still a fair price for a new adventure. On the way here from Lodi, Ca. to Riverside Ca., via Greyhound bus, I kept my I-pod going the whole time. I had programmed 11 hours of music and the battery still had a charge by the time I got to Riverside. So I got checked...

A truckers wife (poem)

Posted 01.05.2009 at 03.14 AM by truckerswife4ever
I know your getting ready to leave when i hear the diesel motor start,
My heart leaps into my throat and i think there goes my love, my world and my heart.
I hear the brakes release and watch you pull out of the yard,
I never understood that loving a truck driver would be so hard.
I look in your eyes and say what i always say: be safe, be careful and hurry home to me.
Even tho i know whatever god has planned is going to be.
I dread the day the phone call comes...

I started driving this morning in Dickinson, North Dakota.
It was -27F.
When I crossed the State line into Montana on I-94, it was -33F.
Now, 475 miles after I started driving, I'm in Belgrade, Montana, sitting in my truck, having a burger with the windows rolled down.
It's now 46F.
A swing of 79 degrees in the same State in the same day.
