Company Downsizing

Posted 03.16.2009 at 10.05 PM by Hyper
Rough week... excellent run to NYC and back, freight was good, lanes were wide open and overall, had a excellent run. Got some rough news while i was out. Owners gave 13 trucks and trailers back to the finance company and laid off 13 drivers, and just about the entire office staff, and closed the office and docks. The move slashes $50K a month off the top of the costs. Going to be a small home based business now with 12 trucks. We will now be picking up and delivering all our own freight. Not a...

No Money...Yet

Posted 03.24.2009 at 06.34 PM by Hyper
Stonebridge Management Corp, Houston, Tx

30 Drivers....all waiting their checks. Payroll was suppose to be done on Friday, and they missed that. Was promised to be done by today, and that did not happen.

Now what. In my case, the last day was Friday. Most of the other drivers were let go the previous Friday. Labor law says they have to settle up within 6 days. Again, this has not happened.

Payments on equipment were 90 days behind, repairs at over 120. We...

Hi to everyone who reads this

Posted 03.28.2009 at 10.59 PM by NotANumber
I have decided to attempt to be more active on this site and what better way than to post on my own blog. After a year as a trucker I have learned many things about trucking that you will never learn in a CDL mill like the one I went to. The things I have learned are numerous.

1. Trucking is not cheap. There are so many places out there (especially truckstops) that are designed to help you part with your money. If they aren't getting you at the pump they are over OVER charging you...

First Trip Out With My Trucker

Last Sunday I left out on my first trip with my beau, Tex who is a trucker. He called me around 4:30 AM Sunday morning to ask if I could spare a couple days for a trip to Kingstree, SC to drop a load he was carrying. After that he would have time off and be coming back to Atlanta. I said, "Sure!"

He said not to over pack as we would only be gone two days. Don't ask me why, but I actually listened to him. He was laboring under the delusion we would...

Just about my new life as a truckers wife.

Posted 04.02.2009 at 12.49 AM by kiacosiah
My husband got his Cdl in late Feb. It was always the last thing that my husband would ever want to do for a living. He was in construction for the past 7 years and it's what he loves. But due to a workman's comp injury he is no longer allowed to return to construction. So we had to quickly come up with a plan B. I am not sure either one of us new what we were getting into.
I feel like my support is gone. It's just me, my 5yr,2yr,and six month old sons. My 5 year old is having a really...

The state of simpleness..

Posted 04.10.2009 at 12.23 AM by jtraveler
I'm not a complicated guy, the simpler life gets, the happier I am. This is ironic, because I am a lease driver (i.e. cheap Company Driver) for a good company in southwest Minneapolis, MN. My tenure with them has had it's heart-breaking moments, but overall, I am satisfied with my employment with them.

I was originally hired as a Company Driver with decent benefits. This is technically my first solo job, even though it wasn't my first time driving solo (long story on that might...

Cyber poster this in the news section...but I wanted to have a reference here on the blog as well.

Here is why. Stonebridge got a lot of its freight from a Broker called, "COPESTONE LOGISTICS". Drivers, avoid this broker. I was PERSONALLY promised that I would be paid, and have not been. This broker does a great deal of work with TABs out of Stafford, Tx. TABs is a bulk US Mail...
