I really miss soft toilet paper

Posted 08.13.2009 at 05.39 PM by Biscuit75
I was home last week after a 3 week tour I guess you could say. It was nice and I ended up with 4 days off before I headed back out here on the road. That time at home got me thinking... Now that I've been back out here a couple months, what do I miss the most about home?

First is soft toilet paper. Charmin. I don't know what the heck they use at the truck stops but it's hard. Loose leaf paper? Sand paper? The menus from the restaurant? Whatever it is, it's not my Charmin!

Trucking, Las Vegas, and more Trucking

Posted 07.16.2009 at 08.52 PM by Biscuit75
So it's been a few weeks since I posted. But it's been a fun few weeks. I ended up getting up to Philly with a load to set me up to get home for my Vegas trip. I was very impressed when I was put on a 3-way call with the CSR and my fleet manager in order to decide what we wanted to take in order to get home. The option we chose got me home 2 days early, but the CSR said "I would rather get you home early and give you an extra couple days instead of risking it and something happening and you...

FFE, I'm starting to figure this place out...

Posted 06.24.2009 at 09.16 PM by Biscuit75
So I have been running with these guys for a little over a month now and things are starting to come together. Though I would love to have more miles, when I have had to wait until the next day to get loaded I get a nice little layover added to my check. This has happened a couple times.

I have been staying out for a long time (long to me) because I am taking a week off the July 4th weekend and after for a nice little Vegas trip that has been planned for quite a while. I left out...

What a horrible week.

So I got out to California on Saturday and had a load that I thought was a drop. Well, we do drop loads in there, just not from the shipper I had. So I sat on it until Monday when I was told I could go and get unloaded. Was now supposed to be first come first served. Hmmm, nope! Long story short, CSR for FFE just "assumed" it was and we needed to make an appointment instead. So I dropped it at our yard and headed out looking for an empty trailer.

Not as easily accomplished...

FFE, a couple weeks in...

Posted 06.03.2009 at 04.34 PM by Biscuit75
So I've been here at FFE for a couple weeks now. So far I like it. There was that little hiccup getting direct deposit going and I had to get some things fixed on the truck. But all in all, I like it so far.

I haven't gotten the miles I want yet, but I am making money. I went home for 5 days over Memorial Day (wasn't expecting that) and when I came out I ran 3 loads in 3 days, all overnights, and ended up in Lancaster at the main terminal last weekend. I spent all weekend getting things...

So far so good.

So I decided to move my experiences with FFE to the blog section. It has now been a week since I left orientation and it has been pretty good I guess. They gave me an '09 Century Class with less than 50,000 miles on it. The "newbie" that had the truck before me ragged on it pretty good. It was a disaster inside, has some damage where he hit stuff, and high hooked it and ran the reefer into the back of the cab bending the grab handles and exhaust brace. It took a while to clean up the inside...
