So far so good.

So I decided to move my experiences with FFE to the blog section. It has now been a week since I left orientation and it has been pretty good I guess. They gave me an '09 Century Class with less than 50,000 miles on it. The "newbie" that had the truck before me ragged on it pretty good. It was a disaster inside, has some damage where he hit stuff, and high hooked it and ran the reefer into the back of the cab bending the grab handles and exhaust brace. It took a while to clean up the inside but I have her looking like new again. Another driver said they will fix all the damage when I go through the Lancaster yard. Just need to get that way first.

As far as running, it started out easy. Nice load to Atlanta area from Chicago out of orientation. Then an overnight load to Knoxville. Then deadhead back to Atlanta to pick up an LTL load with 7 stops. I got that one done and am now in South Bend, In. waiting on a load to head me through the house to get the rest of my things for the truck. I will also be picking up Jake, my boxer. I miss my dog the most. I can't wait to get him on the truck with me.

The truck has optimized idle but it is not working right. I called the local FL dealer at home and he says the engine computer is overiding the optimized idel and shutting the truck down too early. It cycles back on, just in 15 minute incriments instead of by temperature. FFE told me to take it to the dealer when I can and have that fixed.

When I needed a lumper on a couple stops they just had me send in a macro on the Qualcomm requesting a ComCheck, no questions asked. I like that. The fuel routing is kinda hard to get used to. The darn computer keeps wanting to send me out of route for fuel. But in the computers defense I was going up some back roads in Kentucky and Indiana. One call to the fleet manager and he got my route adjusted to include the miles to the fuel stop so I get paid for it. Also was able to get the truck washed without argument too. I think they may realize that after 12 years of driving I know how to do things and not abuse their system.

I'm going to add a couple pics of the truck for some who have asked in my message board posts. As time goes on and I post some more I will have more pics, especially ones of Jake I'm sure!

So, bye for now. See ya on the road!!
