FFE, a couple weeks in...

Posted 06.03.2009 at 04.34 PM by Biscuit75
So I've been here at FFE for a couple weeks now. So far I like it. There was that little hiccup getting direct deposit going and I had to get some things fixed on the truck. But all in all, I like it so far.

I haven't gotten the miles I want yet, but I am making money. I went home for 5 days over Memorial Day (wasn't expecting that) and when I came out I ran 3 loads in 3 days, all overnights, and ended up in Lancaster at the main terminal last weekend. I spent all weekend getting things fixed on the truck, including 2 days at the Freightliner dealer. But I got $75 a day breakdown pay. On Monday I did a couple local shuttles. Got $45 a piece for the two I did. Only took a few hours. Then I headed up into Oklahoma for Tuesday morning delivery. My next load was another overnighter that had me go up into the corner of the Oklahoma panhandle to grap some dead pigs to bring back to Ft. Worth. I deliver that in a few hours. So even though it's not the 2000 mile loads like I would love to have, I am making money and keeping busy.

Jake is still getting used to the truck. He doesn't get freaked out when I get out anymore. He's starting to do his own thing. Even eating and taking water while I'm driving. He mostly lays on the floor when I am driving. For some reason he is leary of getting on the seat or bed while the truck is moving. When we stop though he is all good. He likes to "people watch". Sometimes he stays up when I go to bed just to have the drivers seat I think.

So, I have to run for now. I would have to say I am liking it so far. Some things are annoying, big company things. But you deal with it and go back to work.

good deal, Biscuit. I worked there in late '90's. Was OK. Is it still Conwell Corp?

I just received a call from an FFE recruiter. He says that in the lease program drivers are taking home $900 to $1400/ week depending on how "hard they want to work." Have u heard anything like this among your fellow drivers?

Cole, I have not talked to any lease drivers. I'm not sure how they are doing. Of course on the company driving side I want to run as hard as I can but it has been a little bit of a struggle getting up and going.
