New driver looking for a good start

Swift is a good company to start with. I say that because that is the one I started with but there are many companys out there that take students. Good Luck.

What to do when you breakdown....

As far as the company drivers go the first thing they would do when they end up on the side of the road is get on the Qualcom. Its just a keyboard with a screen that you can send msgs back and forth. They go streight to their dispatcher. Then the dispatcher would look up where the truck is and who they have that can come out and help. Or send it to the maintenance dpt. and they would do the work. Some times that is a company that they already have in the books to use and other times not. If I were a wrecker company I would call every trucking company I could find and give them my number to call first if one of their trucks breaks down in my area. If they have a choice they will go with the cheapest of course. The truck service company where I live has overcharged trucking companies so much that they are in the computer to avoid. No offense but alot of you guys see dollar signs when we break down. Good Luck.
