Why class "A" CDL

I'm retired and considering truck driving. When I look into class "A" schooling, very hard driving and risky income.
When I research class "B" test only, drive a bus, bobtail most driving is local. I look at the earning for "A" & "B" and I ask myself why get beat up for just a little more money to drive class "A" long haul. Come on let's hear some advice and please no B.S. stories about making $100,000.00 plus long haul, unless it's true.

 |  most drivers will end up @ less than 40,000 a year. especialy starting out. I drive long haul,because I can't stand to see the same scenery all the time. I'm no longer married and there's no reason not to. My girlfriend can go if she cares to. life is good. but thats just me. |

| | Why Class "A" Please more comments needed.Thank you driver 4015 & abiz71, tow very differant earning figures, abiz i live in CALIF. i'm sure that class "B' get more the $8 a hour, but i question can they earn more then $1500 a month. I have driven 4 wheel on both coast and the middle, i would say with winter conditions, summer storms East coat drivers should be paid more. So will West coast drivers earn $1500 ? At 68 year old i know the long haul will beat me all to hell, i have driven well over 1 million in 4 wheel ofter 2 to 3 weeks at a time, i have for many years held trucker in the highest esteme. You guys rock o ya, and roll. I still welcome more input, thanks to all  |

| | well good luck with better than $8.00/ hr starting out dear. getting class A prepairing you not to have to go to upgrade later. beleive me i went from taking hazmat off and now having to go through background check yada yad a yada. now it will cost me $150.00 jsut to getthat back. what happens when you decide you want to go otr. another test. $$$$$ adjustment to license more $$$$$ money you probably can't avord to just hand out, much less to the government. it is just better to be prepared than to be sorry later |
