The One I Trust
Religion to me is nothing more then going to church and gossiping about your neighbors or whoever at that moment.
I clam up when preachers and others come up to me and start asking questions, that I feel is none of their business. I guess that's why I don't fit in.
Now, GOD is a different story. I whole hardly believe in GOD. I believe that Jesus Christ is GOD. I believe through Jesus Christ is the way to Heaven. I guess if that makes me religious, then so be it.
I personally don't need a church to worship GOD. I feel that a person can do that on their own and do a fine job of it.
Spending time at home reading the BIBLE with a loved one can be a church. Praying with each other and holding conversations about Jesus Christ are very special with the ones that you love.
I also get turned off by the TV preachers and their lavish surroundings.
Jesus did not need fine clothes and GOLD jewelry, Gold toilets and furniture, Satin drapes, or even a football sized church to preach his word in.
To me, that is nothing more then greed.
So, my way of worshipping GOD I believe is the best way. I don't get wrapped up into the lavish greed and the pleading for donations that most churches get in to.
Although, I have no idea as to what Jesus is wondering or thinking, but he can't really like the idea of a greedy preacher or church, that don't give the money to the LORD, or spend it wisely.
I don't think Jesus meant for the ones who work for him, to purchase themselves million dollar homes, cars, furs, diamonds, etc...
What I believe he meant was to take the money that was given and use it to his benefit for helping others. I don't see how a preacher with all of the above mentioned items, can help anyone but themselves.

| | I agree. I also don't like the way some people are made to feel less than or unworthy if they can't afford or don't have 'good clothes' for church. When I first moved to Georgia I went to a catfish fry at my parents church. There was a middle aged woman trying to get 4 kids under 12 settled at a table. She had salt and pepper hair pulled back in a barrette that reached almost to her behind. When she turned around I noticed her t-shirt said "These are my church clothes." I laughed out loud and went up to introduce myself. We have been buddies ever since. I entertained the kids while she went and got them punch and their food. My ever so proper mother was horrified that I would choose ro befirend someone 'like that.' But as soon as I saw that t-shirt I knew I wanted to be her friend. She's nice, honest, and not phony. What more could you ask for in a friend. |

| | There are good churches out there but they are hard to find . I've lived all over the country and only found 3 churches I was comfortable in . Probably the best one was in MA . They would make anyone that walked in feel welcome . They had several outreaches . They sent children to sing at nursing homes , volunteers to a Transport For Christ Chapel and church members would go to a prison aftercare home and help recently released prisoners prepare a meal then sit and eat with them . At the time my older son was in his 20's . He had had behaviour problems for years and was addicted to cocaine . At an outreach seminar I learned of His Mansion Ministries in NH . They have a 1 year residence rehab program . The property is an old farm and residents work to support themselves - cleaning stalls , cutting firewood , tapping maple trees and making syrup , etc. The place truly works miracles . Before my son went he was worried about being able to quit smoking . The minute he set foot on the property he had no desire for cigarettes . God worked a miracle in his life . That was over 10 years ago and he has remained drug free . |
