Posted 07.27.2009 at 11.39 PM by fd720
So I get my 34 hour restart at the Meadors over last weekend and me and Carl leave out Sunday morning at 7am. Why we left this early idk but we are already loaded . So off I go to get my drivetime in. I got 47.75 hours the previous week and had 63 hours he first week so I need 64 hours in six days.
The reason is Carl is going on vacation the coming Saturday so I need to get this in or I'll be sitting at the Meadors again.
OK, so off we go headed towards Troy, Ohio. I get my 11 hours...

USA experience Part 3

Posted 07.18.2009 at 05.21 PM by fd720
Well after spending a week in Van Buren I finally got my second training week underway. Picked up by Carl, a million mile member and veteran of USA since 1988. WOW!! Its not very often a company driver spends 22 years with the same company in my opinion.. So he has a dedicated route from Okla. City to Ohio and back. So she calls and says he is 3 hours out and to catch the shuttle to the terminal. So I pack up and catch the shuttle and when i get there I wait another hour or so and he finally arrives. He unloads his current student and calls me. He is over at maintenance shop trying to get his engine fan to turn off....

USA Experience Part 2

Posted 07.06.2009 at 11.08 PM by fd720
Well its Monday and they finally put me up in a motel in Van Buren. Its ok with a few restaurants and a grocery store nearby. No news on my second trainer yet. Maybe I will hear from him tomorrow. My first check went to my house so at least I have some money for the road. Its expensive eating on the road so make sure you bring money for food during your training phase. Well thats it for today so until next time.....

Posted 07.05.2009 at 05.46 PM by fd720
Alright so everyone seems to have a blog so here is my take. I have had a B CDL since 1999 after starting with a Miller Brewing distributor. I have had different jobs driving these "straight trucks" and gained a lot of valuable experience such as floating gears, traffic and city driving with a commercial vehicle, being on time to a location and general experiences with a vehicle much larger and harder to negotiate than a 4 wheeler. It has served me well as I now have a A CDL achieved at...
