Possessed by possessions, the evils of storage
Boxes of old paperwork need to be checked before being pitched. Same is true of old clothes. All have to be checked closely because there might be a piece or two of gold jewelery that got misplaced. It's not just my wife's stuff, I was just as bad with tools.
And computers!! I could retire now on the number of computer generations I have gone thru. I think I will keep that Atari 800 though.
The monthly cost of that unit has risen over the last 10 years to the point of being over $300 a month. I have spent something like $30K to store stuff that now has no use to us at all.
More than just financial part, the strain of having this stuff takes a toll. There was this joy killer of buying something new, while thinking that you already owned it. Of only knowing only sort of where stuff was. Of weighing the cost in time of looking for an item for a few hours, against a quick trip to the hardware store.
Ok, back to work.
