Data and file collection, but no job....

Posted 07.06.2009 at 08.44 AM by ghostchild
Hi, my job search continues...what ever happened to the days that when you wanted a job, and a place was hireing, you just walked in and got the job?

Now days, they spend more time collecting data about you than anything else...files and data...
No wonder so many are unemployed...you have someone in the office who decides your employment fate by whether they think they want to hire you or not...

As a trucker...your of value, yes...as long as your willing to spend your life on the road, away from everything else....

As long as your willing to be tossed around from location to location like a ping-pong ball and not have a say in where you go.

Basically...mindless labour....

What a trap....trucking is one of those things that once you get into it, there's nothing else to get into...it's like it's either lonely life on the road, or nothing...
A situation I find myself in now....
I may try a local sanitation company...
All I want is a regular scheduale....evenings, nights and weekends off....

I don't have anymore time to give to the road...
Since I have nothing else I want to see out there I don't like the feeling of being snatched away from your home, just as your getting into things...and hearing by telephone what everyone else is doing, or struggling with, and not being there to help or assist...
I can't assist no one by spending my time at Pilots or Flying Js...or rest areas...that feeling of stepping out of your truck and having value to no one...just basically being a shadow...
Maybe if I was older, and already raised a family and all...road life would be ideal...but I'm not there yet....and if I continue spending my life at desolate truck stops around hundreds of males, I never will be.

Oh well...we'll see...

Hey ghostchild..I'm in the same boat of bananas...has anyine heard of Emcee Driver Personnel? Apparently its an agency like a temp agency only for drivers. I got an application through an online job search engine and Ive tried to find out information about how they were and if it really works. No harm in applying is what I'm doing. The come on is dedicated runs home every 15 days, $1000 sign-on bonus and tractor home. Wow. I'm gonna find out if its lala land or not!

I haven't heard of that agency...I use to work for a similuar agency..'Truckers Plus'...

They were like a 'labour ready' but for drivers...usually the assignments were just for a day or one shift...
You would fill in for other drivers who didn't make it to work for other companies...
So that meant every day your assignment or the type of truck you drove could change...from an 18-wheeler to a box truck to a roll-off flat bed...kinda made it fun and exciting...
Check if there's one in your area...

I appreciate the comeback ghostchild...this company is telling me that I would take the tractor home, and the run is dedicated midwest region and home every 15 days for 3 off and then 15 on 4 off. I think youre right about the temp agency part...what I was thinkin, but they are makin it sound more stable than that.
