It's not easy saying no to returning to life on the road...

Posted 07.17.2009 at 06.33 PM by ghostchild
Hi...well the first interview went well...the second interview never happened...It just disolved...maybe when the boss came back...he had different plans...but they handled it poorely...very poorely....so I'm still searching...
It's not easy...at this stage your moral can really start to take a hit...and you can start to loose motivation....
And in the back of my mind...I keep seeing trucks...big trucks...over...

Interview tomorrow....

Posted 07.08.2009 at 04.23 PM by ghostchild
Well, I got an interview tomorrow...wow...all the apps I've filled out...and it's actually with a company I think I will enjoy...

It's driving...but not the over the road stuff...infact it's more in line with Greyhound...but smaller...driving people around.
State of the art vehicles...now that's something I can do...and be home everyday...I can have a life.

I enjoy being around people...I enjoy making a difference in peoples lives...that's what makes life 'rich'...and...

Walk in, walk out...

Posted 07.06.2009 at 04.07 PM by ghostchild
As I sit here deciding my future...I have past visuals of my life on the road this past Winter...I remember driving so hard through snow, ice, wind, cold, other reckless drivers, thick traffic...drive drive drive....and then you arrive at a Loves, on I-81...and it was like 'anti-climatic'....you step out of the truck...walk inside, through the freezing cold wind, go to the bathroom....walk out...look around...and that's it......

Data and file collection, but no job....

Posted 07.06.2009 at 08.44 AM by ghostchild
Hi, my job search continues...what ever happened to the days that when you wanted a job, and a place was hireing, you just walked in and got the job?

Now days, they spend more time collecting data about you than anything else...files and data...
No wonder so many are unemployed...you have someone in the office who decides your employment fate by whether they think they want to hire you or not...

As a trucker...your of value, yes...as long as your willing to spend...

Brick walls must be knocked down

Posted 07.02.2009 at 03.42 PM by ghostchild
I wish I weren't so stubborn...but I realize life is short...and I just don't want to spend whatever time I have left doing something I don't find enjoyable or unfulfilling.
Trucking conditions you towards 'independence' more so than other jobs...
When you fill out applications, they always ask 'who was your supervisor'...and my first inclination is to write down 'I didn't need nor have a 'supervisor' I had a dispatcher'......

Life after trucking....(marriage)

Posted 06.29.2009 at 11.36 PM by ghostchild
Well, like any marriage...when you divorce...there adjustments you have to make...even though you may not like the marriage or arrangement...there's certain conviences you miss...and if your not careful, will lead you back....

The longer you drive, it seems the more irrelavant you become towards any other career path....it's hard to work youself back into the 'normal' day to day work force...the pace is so different.
Infact, it's hard to work for anyone if you've been trucking...

This ride is almost over...

Posted 05.16.2009 at 10.26 PM by ghostchild
I've never felt so detached from the enviornment around than this time when I came back home...I drove all night to get here from Harrisburg, PA....and when I got home...I just felt 'blah'....it's as if my mind, soul, body and spirit was somewhere else...

Today I finally kind of woke up...my spirit that is...I heard the birds, heard someone doing yard work, saw the sun shining...I sort of felt apart of things again...

And then the call came...the intrusion...'I have a...
