I love country music, i love the open road, and i would love to be in a convoy Comments
| | HELLO, Student. It sounds like you are getting your career in your sights, but remember, its not all flash and glory. I have been a professional driver since i was 18, only because i couldnt get my truck license (i started with a choufers license) til that age. I learned how to drive a big truck at 12. I am 41 now. My advice to you would be to ask your family members that have trucks to let you go on runs with them. Listen to them, watch them, and did i mention LISTEN. The driver has been stereo-typed to the extreme by hollywood and people who have never driven, let alone gotten close to a truck(ever noticed when you see a semi on TV you always hear them blowing the air horn? We dont do that). I love country too, i also listen to rocknroll, gospel,r&b,new stuff, talk radio, so dont get hung up on thinking we are all the same as far as how we move the load down the road, for miles, and miles, and hours, and days. Its hard work, but your passion for the sport might make it fun, probably. Lastly, remember, a truckdriver is supposed to be a proffesional, always drive and act the part and you'll do just fine! Good luck to you sir, and i'll see you out on the big road soon! Gotta go west, be safe. |
