thankful
Posted 3 Weeks Ago at 08.24 PM by kiwi kid Well, I'm feeling very thankful right now. Early this morning at around 12.30am, I was on my way to work. I was a wee bit late, but wasn't speeding...it's not worth it. So, I finally get onto the highway I need, started picking up speed. A semi passed me, and the slower car in front and I decided to follwo suit. The truck and I had passed the slower car and I was waiting to see if the truck was going to move over to the right lane, when I noticed that he had his 4-ways on. Then I saw his arm come out the window, waving up and down. I slowed down, kept about 40 feet between us,thinking that there was something he was trying to warn me of. I decided to move into the right lane, just as he did also, He got there 1st, and then I saw what he was trying to warn me of....a pickup travelling the wrong way....in our lane. The pickup moved over to the right lane, so truck and me moved back to the left lane. Then pickup was past us, and the car we originally passed had to take evasive action to avoid a head-on, they ended up going off the road and down a 15 foot bank. I called the state troopers, and managed to get back to the car down the bank, the folks were ok, but like me very very shaken. They had seen what the semi driver was trying to do, and had dropped back, but said it was like the pickup was just determined to crash into them.
I am thankful for that semi driver, I believe he had a hand in saving me from injury, possibly from death. I am still trying to understand why someone would drive the wrong way like this...do they think its funny, a joke, doing it for a few laughs? This was not one of those incidents where the driver gets disorientated and makes a mistake etc, this was a deliberate act.
I don't know if the guy got caught, I hope he did. I would hate to read that he did this to someone else and they were injured or killed because of him.
I wanted to thank that semi driver, unfortunately I couldn't see who he was driving for, so I can't even call his company and give kudos. So many folks are quick to call a company and complain about a driver, they hardly ever call to compliment which I think is a tad sad.
