Well, I did part of the job I had set myself to do in the garden. It got so dang hot, I drank lots of water and of course had to keep going inside for a pitstop. I had planted 2 willow trees in the area that had already been cleared, and they were looking a bit sad so I thought I'l get the hose and leave it to do a slow soak. While I was doing this The Doctor called, so we were happily conversing while I was potting around. Now, we have a cat who likes to climb trees and generally play silly buggers with me. So I heard all this rustling, told Doc that the cat was about to pounce on me, when I decided to look up.
Well, it wasnt the cat. There, about 6 feet away from me was a bear. He/she was partly behind some blackberry, and was staring at me. I was staring at it. This is my conversation with Doc:

me; theres a bear looking at me
doc; what the hell are you talking about, you dont drink beer
me; I mean a real bear
doc; you drinking hard stuff?
me; a real live brown bear is in the garden about 6 ft away from me
doc; I told you there was beer bottles and cans buried along the back
me; OMG
doc; are you tired, you sound grumpy
me; THERES AN EFFING B E A R IN THE GARDEN AND ITS ONLY 6FT AWAY FROM ME
doc; well I know I can be hard of hearing sometimes but there's no need to swear at me, I'm tired too ya know.......
O.O
silence for a few seconds...
doc; OOOOOO....you mean a REAL bear???
me; YUP
doc; are the kids out there with you?
me; no, they're inside
doc; dang, that means you can't run
me; um, why?
doc; well you can't outrun the bear, but you can outrun the kids....
me; OMG....>.<

well, I slowly walked backwards, never took my eyes of that bear, finally made it to the back door, got inside and started shaking so bad. There's always been bears here, have only seen them from the house or the car, never been so close before. Our neighbour says that the bear probably thought it was hiding and that I couldnt see it. Im glad.

With the heatwave we had here, I decided to get an air conditioner. Could only get one that you put in the window. Well, I've never done this before, and I had gotten one that is for windows that go up and down not sliding. I managed to get the thing in the window but of course there's this huge gap at the top. I pulled the blind down to rest it on the top of the unit but that wasnt any good, soooooo I got some cardboard, cut it to shape and stuck it there with purple duct tape. I think I did pretty darn good, and it looks good. It did the job for us, purple duct tape n all. .
