Work
Mind you, I actually still feel peeved about losing dispatch, I really enjoyed that job and working with the drivers and the carriers. RANT
One thing that absolutely fries my but-tocks is this: why the heck are these corporations outsourcing jobs? Everyone is bemoaning the bad economy, no one has any money to spend etc. WELL HELLO. When jobs are outsourced to india, pakistan or the philipines you are taking money away from the local economy, if folks here don't have a job then they don't have the money to spend here either. I know these big corps are talking bottom line etc, but thier bottom line aint worth squat if thier corp eventually shuts down due to the economy. Keep the jobs here, don't be giving them away. I know that in New Zealand, Telecom which is the main tele company, has outsourced something in the region of 600 jobs, now while that really doesn't sound much it is huge for a small country like Enzed. Telecom says it will be able to provide better customer service etc...codswallop.
RANT END
Anyway, we found out today that the new distributor is someone that we all work with who also lost thier job, and he offered me an area manager position. I decided to accept....there isnt anything else around here and I dont want to commute to Seattle each day. It is a bare bones operation, and we will be putting in some looong hours in the 1st few weeks but I'm not afraid of hard work and I know all of the carriers at the warehouse I'l be working out of and already have a good working relationship with them which is a bonus. It will be an interesting next few weeks.
