Busy summer Posted 08.10.2008 at 08.40 AM by latanea wow - I have been so busy the last month or so that I have not had a lot of time to post here - been running my butt off all over.. between atlanta and philly and KC and chicago I hav spent a ton of time running freight... I tend to like the fall and winter better - we slow down and I have time for hobbies and to work around the house. (and to relax more). The longest run yet... Posted 07.19.2008 at 07.09 AM by latanea In 4 years I had never been out more than 3 beds (laydowns) with Roadway... This last week I ran to Carlisle Pa. and was expecting to go home when I came off rest at the hotel... wrong. I was called to go to Worcester Mass. Then off rest I went to Milton PA.... then to Akron.... on to Chicago for number 4... then home. payday will be fat - but damn! I ran out of clean clothes and... The Change of Ops. Posted 07.14.2008 at 11.41 AM by latanea Roadway had a major change of operations that went in to effect yesterday... 80% of our runs will be "meet and turn" which is much like UPS package's way of making sure drivers are in their own bed at the end of the day... So last night I ran to claysville Pennsylvania - met a Carlsile driver - swapped trucks and headed back home. I live very close to the terminal and turning back every day suits me fine. ... lawn work - and 'maters! Posted 07.10.2008 at 07.20 PM by latanea mowed the grass today... - it was a little damp when I mowed so the clippings clumped up a bit... (fertilizer right?) the tomatoes are going NUTZ!!! have 6 plants in containers (half barrels) that have close to 50 fruits growing. other garden goodies growing well - no problems with pest (yet) this year... should be getting work call tonight - hope to get a southbound run - or something... Kansas city and home - THE LONG WAY Posted 07.07.2008 at 02.34 AM by latanea went out to KC a few days back - hit the hotel on the eve of the 4th... (no sleep - lots a noise) then instead of coming back home - they ran me to chicago... then another hotel for 11 hours - then to a rail yard and home (via Dayton). not a bad couple of days (1500 miles) - but I kinda wanted to be home last night for the Charlie Daniels concert and fireworks show. anyway - just... happy 4th of july! (I gotta work) Posted 07.04.2008 at 03.22 AM by latanea just received my work call at 4am... Kansas city I will be a going... (600 miles out - hotel and then 600 miles home tomorrow) As normal for me I like to spend some time on the 4th - thinking about what the USA is to me and my family. Back to work at 4am... (with dreams of new cars) Posted 06.30.2008 at 02.17 PM by latanea hard to believe that an entire week has flown by... vacation this summer went well - visited lots of people and went to the fair... rode the crap out of my bikes and spent some good evenings with the wife. I even got a ton of work done on the bathroom remodel. I suppose I am ready to go back to work - I get anxious when I am away from trucks... I wonder what retirement will be like.
