Thought I'd share my experiences as I start a new career at 52. By this age, most people would be thinking of retirement and not starting over. I'll try to keep you informed how it goes.
Last week of school is here!!!!
Well, it's finally here. This week I got to solo a few trucks (no instructor, with another student), passed my backing test (only 1 point out of 150 possible), and actually feel comfortable driving a semi. Next week we have to pass our forward driving course (should be easy), coupling, and a written final. Technically I have a low enough score that I should pass if I flunk everything, but I doubt if that will happen. My wife is doing much better and I have a couple of things to wrap up, but I think I have a job lined up. To those of you considering going to school, I strongly recommend Johnston Community College. It's very tough and I think we will graduate about half of the students that we started with, but we will be well trained. There were several times that I considered quitting, but I'm glad that I hung in there and have made a lot of friends in my class. I'm looking forward to being on the road and joining the professional drivers of the world.
