Before my husband Patrick passed away, he had on his license Organ Donor. The other day I received a letter from a man named David, the man who received my husbands heart. It's the second letter from him, and I am always thrilled to hear from him. My youngest daughter also is always glad to hear from him and it's always an emotional time for her. David had a very bad heart, it started in his 40's and progressed into needing a heart to live. In June he celebrated his 63 Birthday. That is a blessing for me. He says in his letter that he peddles a bike every morning 4 miles, I thought to myslf W O W. Patrick was always a hard worker up at 5 am and going until the job was done. I could see why David can peddle 4 miles a day. He also states that at times his energy level seems boundless. I remember the monkey transplant (heart) about 30 some years ago, into a baby, and I never relized how far medical science has come. It's been 10 months since the transplant, and Davids body has taken well to the transplant. I am thrilled that some one had the chance to live because of someones generosity. Thats how my husband was a giver, even a better giver than myself.
