My bad...

Posted 07.19.2008 at 09.39 PM by Quebeker
I hate when people say "my bad".

It's the same as saying "I screwed up, my fault but I don't feel the need to apologize."

WTF?

Can't people say "Sorry, I was wrong."?
It would at least sound a little more sincere.

On a Harley Sportster Forum I am a member of, there was this guy.
A wise man, always willing to offer advice and help, always telling a good joke and laughing at your good joke.
A man I never met, never talked to, just a cyber-friend.
And he is now gone.
And it hurts like if I had known the man all my life.

Rest In Peace my friend.

I miss...

Posted 07.17.2008 at 08.37 PM by Quebeker
I miss the "nothing to care about" part of childhood.
But I also remember that I was never big, tall or old enough to do anything I really wanted to do.

I miss the 16 to 18 year old part of my life.
I had a drivers license, access to 2 cars, a Jeep, a cottage, 4 wheelers and 1 snowmobile.
No rent, no car payment, groceries or utilities to pay for.
A summer job, with normal week day hours, no week-ends to pay for gas, movies, dinners and other fun...

I'm almost home.

Posted 07.15.2008 at 07.16 PM by Quebeker
I left home last Tuesday to go to deliver in Cleveland.
I went from there to Sturgis, MI to pick up a load of paper.
I stopped for the week-end at a truckstop in Golden BC.
Went from Golden to Kamloops yesterday and made my delivery.
Today, went from Kamloops to Toledo, OR and I'm done for the nite.
Tomorrow, I pick-up in Portland and then head home, 2584 miles away.
That will be a 6472 miles trip.
Then I take a week off.

When I think about it, it feels pretty good.

Posted 07.09.2008 at 10.20 PM by Quebeker
20 years ago, when I was 20, I lost everything I had.
Lost may be the wrong word. Abandoned, or left behind everything I had.
Lost my girl in the spring.
I quit my job and in the next 11 months I spent every penny I had.
My car was repoed.
I left all my belongings except a bag of clothes in my apartment and never went back.
I pissed off a lot of friends and family members.
I became homeless with few friends and rapidly shrinking cash reserves.
But...

And they wonder why truckers "have to" cheat.

Posted 07.08.2008 at 09.51 PM by Quebeker
I picked up a load today near Windsor, Ontario and had to deliver it to Solon (just outside of Cleveland), OH at 6PM then go to Sturgis, MI, 225 miles away, for 5AM tomorrow. After that, I have 5 days to get to Kamloops, BC.

Simple enough, right?

Right, if they would unload the damn crap off my trailer.
I'm typing this at 1040PM and they have not touched my load yet.

So now, I can not get to my pick-up on time legally.

I guess I will have...
