The longest time apart...

Posted 03.29.2009 at 09.41 PM by snowbunny
I married my driver just a month and half ago...Happiest day of my life! Then it was back to work...the longest we've ever been apart is six weeks, and even then we were able to hook up in NY a few times in between.

This time he won't be home until the middle of May. So here is my place to let out how its going...

Its been five weeks now...and I miss him so much! But at the same time, you know, all those moments when I am left with nothing but my thoughts,...

Last Sunday I left out on my first trip with my beau, Tex who is a trucker. He called me around 4:30 AM Sunday morning to ask if I could spare a couple days for a trip to Kingstree, SC to drop a load he was carrying. After that he would have time off and be coming back to Atlanta. I said, "Sure!"

He said not to over pack as we would only be gone two days. Don't ask me why, but I actually listened to him. He was laboring under the delusion we would...

Hi to everyone who reads this

I have decided to attempt to be more active on this site and what better way than to post on my own blog. After a year as a trucker I have learned many things about trucking that you will never learn in a CDL mill like the one I went to. The things I have learned are numerous.

1. Trucking is not cheap. There are so many places out there (especially truckstops) that are designed to help you part with your money. If they aren't getting you at the pump they are over OVER charging you...

Now I'm a professional!!! Maybe not...

Posted 03.28.2009 at 07.31 PM by IrishOKelley
So... I finished truck driving school and received my CDL. I went up to my road instructor, Dennis and said, "Guess I'm a professional driver now." He replied, "Nah, now you're a CDL holder. You've just started the learning."

I've been thinking a lot about that statement. I'm just starting a new career. It's a lot different from my corporate job. I get a week off before USA orientation, then I'm on the road. I have so much to learn that it seems daunting....

Well, I got tired of being laid off from factory work and received a state WIA grant to go to school!!!!! Attended C1 Truck Driver Training and received my CDL outside Springfield, Mo. And got the pre-hire from Swift. Recruiter has me attending orientation in April 20 outside Kansas City. I am waiting to see what is in store now!!!!! I see that not much is pleasent written about Swift. But I know there are pros and cons on most choices----right?

Driving Job/ or is it

Posted 03.25.2009 at 09.22 AM by aircraftfuel
With todays world we as truckers are having a hard time keeping the weels turning, witch means we are not making the money we need to live and prosper. We are faced everyday with sitting in a truckstop wating and hopping for a load anywere so we can make some money, well here I sit, and sit, and sit, spending money for food and what ever to keep from going nuts as the dispatcher goes home everyday not realy caring that his truck is not moving, or his driver is going broke. I hope we can survive...
