Nana-reporting on her schooling

Posted 03.23.2009 at 06.26 AM by RickG
I read the post by Nana saying she wasn't going to report on her progress at school any more . I tried to pm her and was not surprised her inbox was full and couldn't receive any messages . I know more of you want to give words of support and I think we need this separate thread to do it so her school reports don't get hijacked . Nana , more than a few of us watch for your posts every day . Your thread is very important to us and gives very valuable information to those considering school . We've been with you this far , how could you even think of abandoning us ? You do need to learn to not let criticism get the best of you because that's part of it . I have to say that . You can't please everybody and there will always be someone with a negative attitude . As long as you're doing the best you can do take pride in that and know your efforts are appreciated by those that really know you . Don't give critics the satisfaction of accomplishing their goal by letting their remarks have an effect on you . Hold your head up and go on doing what you're doing . What do you really care what they think anyway ? Who are they ?

Nana please continue to post your progress. I like Rick, and everyone else enjoy your daily report on how your doing, in training.. I like many others here were new once, and I wish I could have found this place when I started out.. You being inspiration to everyone out there who is considering driving for a living, and what it is like to take that first baby step behind the wheel of a big truck.. Hope you read this and continue to report on how your doing..

Hi Nana; I don't usually say much, but I had to tell you how much I've enjoyed your thread. You are a special lady and you and Granddad are in for some great adventures together.

We all started somewhere and at sometime and were nervous, frustrated, and felt totally defeated at times. Hell; I feel that way when I hear NYC, LOL.

Just hang in there and keep the faith. It appears you have a lot of good trucking folks pulling for you.

May God bless you and all your endeavors.

I know the blog is here and I'll be using it. At the moment though I'm sick as a dog. I thought it was food poisoning but now it's been 3 days so I'm not sure. I'm seeing a dr and will find out. My training has been stopped but I'll be starting just as soon as I can stay up for more than an hour without being ill.

Thanks everyone!

Well the dr said it was food poisoning and was either salmonella or viral. He said I just had a really rough time of it and gave me some meds for my stomach cramping. I’ve actually been able to keep some soft food down. I’m returning to school tomorrow. They’re having me do some extra “range” time so I’ll get to work some more on my basic skills then I’ll start my “road” training on Monday. I’ve lost a week but all things happen for a reason.

I’m looking forward to getting back to school.

Good to hear your getting better Nana. I had the salmonella thing back in the early 80's. I worked at this plant that I could barley make it to work 3 days a week. I hated the job. Then a foreman made a bet with me that I wouldn't make my 6 months probation without taken a day off. I said ok how much? he said 50, well that same week I lost because I was out sick.. I even tired to work with a puke bucket by my machine. I did not stipulate that if it was a real illness it did not count. So I had to pay up LOL..

I've been away for a week and just caught up on everything going on. It's really ashame that Nana's thread had to take a u-turn and start heading in the wrong direction. I just wish other drivers would stop being so judgemental, and realize that it's the driver behind the steering wheel and not the name on the side of the truck. There are alot of people here that support you 100%, no matter which company you're with, and wish you all the success in the world Nana...I am one of them.

First of all, i'm happy to hear you are feeling better Nana...I stopped eating at fast food joints long ago. Second, kudos to Rick and Cyber for starting the blog..I think it's a great idea. And third, i'm looking forward to continue reading about your adventures at Swift Nana, and your transformation from a wannabe to a gonnabe. You can do it girl!

Hey y'all! I couldn't figure out how to make an actual entry instead of just a comment so I've started my own blog " The further Adventures of Texas Nana".
