Good deed for the week....

I was coming home last night on the scooter(harley) around midnight. I see a white suv ahead of me about two blocks sitting at the light with brake lights on. Light turned green and the suv did not move. By the time I got to the light, it had turned red. So I changed lanes and pulled up next to the suv which turned out to be a fairly new GMC Denali. One of those big fancy smancy expensive GMC suv's.
So I look over and the driver appeared to be asleep at the wheel. Light turns green and he didn't move. So I decided to take off and started thinking about the whole situation. What if this driver removed his foot off the brake pedal? He could cause a serious accident. Possibly hurting or killing someone else in the process. So I got a half a block down and decided to turn around. I pulled off on the shoulder and dialed 911. Before the call ended, I had a cop on the scene. Before I left the scene. There had to be about five cop cars. It was interesting watching them trying to wake this guy up. I thought for a moment, they were going to break a window. They finally got him to wake up and got him out of the vehicle.
Well I guess you know the rest of the story.
Yep, he went to jail for DWI.
I should be reading about him in monday's local blotter report. He did it to himself. All I did was thinking of public safety and I probably saved a life or two last night.

| | I *have* done the same thing! Even to a friend...as it turned out I lost the friendship because he wouldn't listen and not drive even after drinking a case. At least he's still alive and he hasn't killed anyone..........yet. I just hope one day these people will realize that drinking and driving don't mix. I'm sad that the friendship ended but he left me no choice since the cops are the only ones he'd listen to... |
