first my son in law just graduated from a school in j-vill and he like a lot of you out out there is looking for a job.
now he had a couple of interviews with companys that his trainer rfecomended and it seems that they require 10 yrs previous w2 forms before they would hire him, now i have long known that a tgrucking company can and will do what ever the can get away with if you let them but this is a new twist.
you do not have to give a copy of your w2 forms to anyone that is not public information it is between you and the irs period its nobodys buisness how much money you made and it is not a law or a dot regulation there just tryting to get you to do there work for them so they dont have to spend time verifying employment, you can do so but it is not law in fact it is illegal for them to require it , now im sure there is going to be somew that will say it is thAT IS ALWAYS THE CASE but if you think it is please let me no the statute # i could be wrong i spent three hours last ight researching dot regs it is not there .
so you do as you like, i dont think i would, to much information to give them.
2010
now ive also been doing some research on the new regs for 2010 and a lot of what ive been hearing is just plain trash , hear is a few.
there is no age requrement if your 50 yrs old or older your not going to lose your job that is pure nonsense.
now what ther in the process of doinf is what each state is already doing, keeping records except now its going to e in a national data base so any cop can pull your information up when he does a cdl check nothing new really it just gives them better access and every thing you do will be put in the data base now they do it on a state level the new system will have info from every state to be accesed at any time by law enforcement and limited information can be accesed by companys that may hire you no big thing and nothing to worry about .
now some may lose there job there going to classifie drivers AND companys so if your driving up and down the highway and you think your big ands bad and you can do as you please by breaking the speed limit, not taking care of the log book, wreckless driving , well you might not be out here much longer and i think its already in affect.
in other word your going to have to act like a pro not a juvinile. in other words nobody is going to lose ther jobs without asking for it .
the physical is going to be a little tighter if your to heavy you might have to lose some weight looks like there going to be a little tight on the weight issue, as i understand it if you take meds you have to register them at the time of your physical.
other then what ive mentioned no big deal except the trucking company are going to be in for a surprise they go into the same data base and if they dont comply they can be shut down, i think i like that part.
nothing to worry about for any pro driver. and for the young man that says drivers over 50 are going to be out of work, well you might get your own house in order it could be you. i sure as hell aint planning on quitting ands im older then dirt.
all have a great day and remember this one thing in spite of they way things are and all the many problems this businees has you will never lose till you quite.

Helping hands
now the old truck broke down about every 100 miles and i found myself on the side of the road trying to figure out how to fix the damn thing and every time it happened there was an owner operatoe or a driver stop to see how he could help and i mean every time, do you see that today? i think not most today will try to run over you.
today all you hear is bad, no one has the time to say anything nice or try to help and yeah ive heard every excuse in the book, who the hell cares about excuses, shut up and do somthing if you can.
now some driver told me one time that his company would not allow him to stop and help anyone he would get fired, well la tee da if your that job scared tou dsont need to be out here anyway damn your company.
ive seen on this site a driver ask for help finding a job or a place to lease his truck that he just bought and even i have troubel believing all the bs that comes along.
there has never been a company that has been tailer made for an individual driver they just dont exist, if some company hurt your feelings that dont make them a bad company in fact you might need to look in the mirrior at any rate the new driver or the driver that needs help with a job dosent need to hear all the hype he needs a damn job to support his family he can make his own mind up as to wheather or not he like the company in the mean time he has a little money coming in while he makes up his mind.
in other words help dont confuse dont make it worse and i got a flash for you if you stay in this business long enough sooner or later your going to need help, your going to break down beside the road or some company is going to leave you stranded a long way from home broke with no money at all and let me tell you its not a good feeling but it happens every day.
i can honestly say that in almost 50 yrs i have never run buy a driver broke down beside the road i have alwas stopped to offer help, and i have never walked buy a driver at a truck stop that was hungry because a company left him stranded and you can believe it happens every day.
why do i bother? because its the right thing to do thats why and further more ive been in them shoes and it is not a good feeling.
but today the new breed of driver thinks its a game well by god it is not a game its a business and a career and if you stay in this business you need to realise that or you wont last a year if that long and it would probably help you along the way if you take that rambo radio and chunk it out the damn window all you hear on that thing is lies and general bs.
now im old school and the way things are today as im sure by now you can tell quite frankly pisses me off, can i do anything about it ? yes by god i can.
any driver young or old if your in this business or your trying to get into this business i can and will help in any way i can without hesutation ive been out here long enough if i dont no the answer i can get the answer and it wont come with a bunch of tears or bs what i tell you will be facts or i wont tell it at all.
now i no that on this site you cant leave an e-mail add or a link i have no idea why but i didnt make the site so i have to comply , but a few drivers have sent me a private message and that seems to work, all you have to do if you need help that is real just ask and you can be sure ill get back to you.
all of you in these difficult time the best of luck and happy trailes.----southernpride
