Alright I'm trying to make this blog so I can make actual blog entries. Please bear with me!

To try and catch those that are interested up on what's been happening I'll make it short: I had food poisoning and didn't get to go for road training that began last Monday. I was sick for 4 days and finally returned to the Academy on Friday. I must say they were incredibly kind to me while I was sick and very encouraging about me returning.

I went back on Friday and spent 3 days back on the "range" reviewing my basic skills and I found a change in my confidence level and my attitude. I had fun! I really enjoyed those days and found myself confident that not only will I be able to do this but that I'll be good at it.

I was so glad to see my classmates again even though I'm no longer in that class. I really missed many of them and think so highly of them. They've been going through exams yesterday, today and will finish up tomorrow. I'm so PROUD of how well they're doing!

I realize I sound like a dork but if y'all could meet some of these people you'd understand. I honestly can't think of a one that I wouldn't enjoy having over to dinner or them meeting my family. I especially will miss the 6 guys that were in my "group". They shoved confidence into me when I had none, they insisted I keep trying. A sweeter, kinder group of men I don't think you could find.

So, now I'm in my new class and meeting new classmates. There's more women in this group and that was FUN! In the group I joined on the range I wound up spending those 3 days in a truck with 2 other women and let me tell you, you don't put 3 women in a truck and not have a great deal of talking and even more laughter.

And now for the information that many have been waiting for: Nana has started road training!

Yes, yes I finally made it to road training but of course not without drama. I left the house this morning for my hour drive to school and I left 35 minutes early. Thank Goodness I left early. Half-way across the Indian Reservation I came upon an “Emergency Scene Detour” and wound up out in the middle of nowhere. To make matters worse some idiot had evidently decided that moving the detour signs would be fun so several of us wound up WAY out on the reservation until logic had me U-turn and head back towards where I “felt” I should be going. I made it to school just barely on time. If I had been late, they’d have made me wait till next week.

So, I have a road instructor and I really like him. He’s very calm, reassuring and never raises his voice. He was quite complimentary on my skills and not only did we work on shifting and down shifting but our group (there’s 4 students on the truck) got to go onto the highway. I have to say, I really like driving that truck.

I like it a LOT.

I’ve been worried that I’d freak out in traffic or on the highway but I didn’t. In fact when it got crowded and over-size loads were entering the highway, plus all the 4-wheelers whipping around like fools I didn’t get scared at all. I stayed calm and just felt more determined to do the right thing and keep my truck under control. My instructor said I did an “excellent” job.

I’m quite pleased in a purely selfish, vain and self-serving way. ROFL

So, that’s it for today, except to say: Okay you lurkers from my old class, I miss you already and I’m so grateful that I got to know you.

TY one and all. Yes it's very fun, I simply love it!

The 3 women in a truck was wwhen we were finishing up the range training. Now that we're on the road it's an instructor, 3 guys and myself. They're great guys. I have been so lucky with all my instructors and with the groups I've been in. I'm very very fortunate.
