A truckers wife (poem)
My heart leaps into my throat and i think there goes my love, my world and my heart.
I hear the brakes release and watch you pull out of the yard,
I never understood that loving a truck driver would be so hard.
I look in your eyes and say what i always say: be safe, be careful and hurry home to me.
Even tho i know whatever god has planned is going to be.
I dread the day the phone call comes in,
Telling me you wont be coming home ever again.
It's not easy being a trucker's wife,
When your gone tryin to have some kind of life.
Pouring my love out to you over the phone,
The whole time crying wishing you were next to me at home.
The sleepless night, the little fights and the really bad weather,
All of it everything is worth the time we spend together.
The pillow and blankets in our bed smell just like you,
Sprayin my perfume on your pillows in the truck so you'll miss me too.
Wishing so bad your were home holding me tight,
Wondering if it's in the end gonna be worth the fight.
I hate it when people say they understand how i feel,
Unless your a trucker's wife to you its not as real.
I rub my belly with our baby growin inside me,
And wonder what the sacrifice will be.
I'm all ready tired of the games that you play,
If they dont stop then you know i wont stay.
I love you deeply with all my heart and soul,
Til death do us part is my lifelong goal.
