Driver trying to make it

Posted 10.05.2009 at 12.47 PM by vision124
Hi, My name is Brady. I have been looking for a new job. The problem I keep running in to is that most places won't hire felons. I ran from a cop on a motorcycle. Does anyone know of any place that may be willing to give me a chance? I've been working for a very small company for the last six months. The owner is a very nice man but that doesn't pay my bills. My co. is in major financial trouble and are fading fast. All I want is to be able to provide for my family. Any help would be appriciated by me and my family.

I've talked to every major carrier I can find a # for. I make at least 30 calls a day and I'm starting to get discouraged.

It really depends on how long ago it was and where you live. If it was less than 5 years ago you have almost no chance but keep looking. Somewhere you might find someone to give you a break.

No offense anotherfool but that wasn't very helpfull. I am looking for someone who has some idea of where I can look. I need names or phone numbers or both. I've gotten pretty good at finding companys with the smallest bit of info. My felony was in 2004. I live in Ohio.

What you are asking for is impossible. Nobody can give you a name and number to a company that will definitely hire you. What I said IS useful...just not what you want to hear. Getting hired depends solely on your background and history and each company has their own criteria for each person.

You have seen the names of companies on this site and others. Google trucking companies and start calling them and doing applications. Some MIGHT call you but most won't. Too many applicants with clean history that want the same position as you. Which way do you think it will go? Good companies - 10years minimum or no felonies ever. Not-so good - beyond 5 years. Crappy companies- who knows. Any felon has very few choices and those are usually with the largest companies. CRE, Covenant, Central Ref. Check your local area and go in and talk to them - face to face is ALWAYS the best way to apply unless company says otherwise. You might have to look at construction companies or cement co. for a few years.

Just do searches and call, call, call. Someone will give you a chance but it is up to you to do the leg work. Have you searched all of the threads here that have the word "felon" in them?
