MacKinnon, the guys that can't pay their bills right now and are out over 100 days...great example!
Skilled profesionals, the same guys that piss in the parking lot in front of the public (let alone their peers), the same professionals that can't parl a truck, let alone pilot it down the road safely, the same skilled professionals that have last week's gravy on their t-shirt and sweat pants and are so obese their guys hang out a foot past their waste line...are thise the professionals you are referring to OR is there another bunch?

Getting paid by the mile is a joke. Long distance drivers are getting ripped off. The second the driver steps into the cab until they step out and head for home they should be getting paid period. The averge driver looses $20,000 a year just on loading and loading.
Bring this to the government's attention on how much taxes the government is loosing and watch how fast they implament new procedures. However that will never happen because the big corporations are influincing the decision makers. -

Pre-trip, fuel, load, unload, customs, waiting etc etc. lets be nice and say that the freebies included in mileage rate works out to 3 hours a day.
Average rate of $20.00 an hour X 3 hrs. = $60.00 X 260 days = $15,600.00
The above figures are conservative. Probably closer to 4 hours a day which would be $80.00 X 260 days = $20,800.00
If he's out 5.5 days a week =
